C5 boss Ben Frow on Stormy Daniels pulling out of CBB: “We built a whole week around Stormy. I flew someone out to accompany her here. She disappeared on us. I was bloody furious actually, we built the White House and the whole goddam thing around her.”

Channel 5 boss Ben Frow has said he’s “planning for a year without ‘Big Brother’”, during an interview at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

For the past year, the future of the reality show has been called into question, after Ben said that unless he sees the show adapt and improve, he’ll axe it once its contract is up at the end of this year.

Speaking in Edinburgh, it was clear Ben had little cause to change his mind, revealing that he’s still planning to not bring the reality juggernaut back in 2019.
He said: “I have planned for a year without ‘Big Brother’. But never say never. The contract runs out at Christmas.”

It’s not known whether this also includes the show’s ‘Celebrity’ edition, which is currently in the middle of its last contracted series with Channel 5.

There’s also one more series of the regular series of ‘Big Brother’ still to come on Channel 5, which kicks off next month.

Just goes to show BB is better off on another channel if it's Channel 5 trying to pull stunts like the Stormy thing.

Exactly. And it sounds like this was a C5 thing rather than an Endemol thing. Frow doesn't like the show so he should keep out of it.

I can imagine them asking in a meeting "So why don't we make this whole CBB thing about one housemate who is not even 100% locked in and see how that goes with the ratings?", and all the executive team saying "yeah bruv sounds alrite" Where did they get those people from to approve of this??

Despite his public comments, which could of course be a negotiating tactic, isnt it interesting that for someone who keeps slagging off the show and saying his channel doesnt need it, that Frow got so personally involved, sending someone to accompany Stormy and feeling infuriated at her disappearance. It illustrates he has a keen interest in the show and wanted to make it succeed (even though it was in a foolish way). If he was really so hell bent on destroying and cancelling it, why would he get so involved in trying to improve its ratings and publicity this year?
