Michelle McManus has described the current series of X Factor as "awful".

McManus, who won the second series of Pop Idol in 2003, claimed that producers have ruined the show by promoting contestants' "sob stories" and staging arguments between the four judges.

"I watched every episode of X Factor last year and voted for Leona Lewis, who I thought was unbelievable. I've even bought her single because she is fantastic," Michelle told the Daily Record.

"But I can't watch it this year. Everyone has a sob story and everything is staged between the judges. It is so affected to the point I don't believe a word that is coming out of anyone's mouth. X Factor is a caricature of itself and just awful."

She does have a point. Niki and Hope are the only decent singers this year, I hope Niki wins though. No dpubt it will be a guy

Oh please, get a hit record and then criticize the x factor. Shes one big sob story. Pete Waterman was right to throw a hissi fit, because she should not of won that competition, she wasnt a star.

Taking that into consdideration, it is a bit of a joke this year, because there are too many sob stories, its a bit boring.

I actually really liked Michelle and "All This Time" is one of my fave songs ever. She does have a point, their are no stand out singers this year, unlike last year when there was quite a few.

I don't think she can strut around saying that because if I remember rightly, the fact that she was overweight helped her with the show. I remember her being all over the magazines - talking about it.

Why was her winning awful? It makes a change from the "fit" guy winning, like they normaly do, I find that awful.

It makes a change but at least some fit guy would have been more successful than her after the show.

But she didnt have a fantastic voice. It was an OK voice but nothing world class.

Leona winning made a nice change from the fit guy winning, but at least she is very talented.

The series is quite awful and I'd rather have an 'big fat obese woman' win than the crap they are giving us this series.

Even if it is hypocritical I think she's right. Too many sob stories this year, and little talent, and personally I actually can't believe anything that's said, especially after all that business of Lady Shiverz pretending to be an innocent girl, and Daniel being stuck-up and arrogant when he pretended to be this sweet man who had a hard time as a single parent.
