Rhyd: My dream duet with Kath

WELSH warbler Rhydian Roberts is dreaming of a duet with compatriot and opera beauty Katherine Jenkins.

The 24-year-old singer - the odds-on favourite to win the X Factor - hopes to use his new-found fame to persuade the classical star, 27, to perform with him.

Rhydian said: “I would love to work with Katherine and it’s been my goal to sing with her before I’m 25.

“She’s at the top of her game.”

Rhydian has a similar background to Katherine - both are classically trained and hail from the Welsh valleys.

He said: “My lifelong ambition has been to have a record contract.

“I would like a similar career to Katherine - she trained classically and is a good ambassador for our country.”

Rhydian has also got his eye on Katherine’s position as the Welsh rugby team’s official mascot.

He admitted: “I would love to sing the National Anthem at the Millennium Stadium before a rugby game.”
