Default Cover up: Amy Winehouse covers her face (and her nose) from even more scrutiny

Cover up: Amy Winehouse covers her face (and her nose) from even more scrutiny
Amy Winehouse's strange behaviour continued as the singer covered her face (and her nose), in a bid to hide from further scrutiny.

Following another reported shambolic performance on her beleaguered tour, this time in Brighton, the singer was seen covering her face after leaving the Grand hotel in the early hours of the morning.

Amy roamed the streets in the rain after taking to the stage more than an hour late in front of a sell-out crowd at the Brighton Centre.

The troubled singer seemed out of it last night as she dashed from hotel to hotel in Brighton, hiding her nose and pulling at her teeth erratically.

Clearly sleep was not on the agenda following the concert.

The night started out with the Rehab singer playing a gig in Brighton. Afterwards she relaxed with a game of pool before heading to the Hilton Hotel after midnight.

She stayed in her room until 3.30am, when she dashed out the front door in the pouring rain and ran to the Grand Hotel further down the promenade.

Here she banged on the door until she was let in. After just one hour she left the Grand Hotel looking "wasted" - desperately covering her nose - before heading back to the Hilton.

At 5.15am she ditched her manager and crew and escaped into a taxi, stopping at Tesco to pick up some magazines, and headed back to London.

Amy's strange behaviour comes after she was seen in public with suspicious white blobs in her nostril recently. And consequently, she appears to have grown somewhat self-conscious about her increasingly ravaged appearance.

Last week, she sparked concern by appearing to snort a mystery substance during a live stage performance.

The troubled singer, who has previously admitted to a heroin addiction and once collapsed after a drugs overdose, seemed to take a parcel from her bra and put it up towards her nostril.

She then veiled a silk scarf in front of her face for a few moments before agitatedly rubbing her nose.

Winehouse, 24, then struggled to string a coherent sentence together as she exchanged banter with the crowd at the Brixton Academy between songs.

Amy is in her most fragile state yet, as she is separated from her beloved husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who last week heard he will spend Christmas in jail.

He has been remanded in custody on charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice for allegedly trying to bribe pub landlord James King.

Fielder-Civil is accused of bribing King not to give evidence against him - after he was charged assault on the pub landlord on 20 June last year.

Meanwhile, Amy is said to be on the verge of finally going to rehab - and clearly is in dire need of it.

On the weekend she appeared at her third London gig in a week - but her red nostril and tired and haggard appearance revealed all was not well.

With a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and her bony frame shrunken in a tiny dress, the troubled singer's appearance prompted further cause for concern.

Amy risked alienating her loyal fans by walking out of yet another concert long before it was due to finish.

With smeared make-up, tattoos and a cigarette clenched between her teeth she looked a long way from one of the UK's most successful performers.

During the concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London she rambled incoherently and disappeared off stage repeatedly. After boos from the crowd on Saturday night, she left.

The 24-year-old, distraught that husband Blake Fielder-Civil is in custody, also appeared to have a nasty red scab in a nostril. Earlier last week, she was pictured with a white substance lodged in her nose.

The singer, who has previously admitted to a heroin addiction, has claimed she is now clean. But her parents have become increasingly concerned about Fielder-Civil's influence.

Miss Winehouse's mother Janis, 52, said she was glad he was behind bars because it would give her daughter a chance to be weaned off drugs.

Friends said she is finally considering checking herself into rehab.

The 24-year-old – who famously sang the lyrics "They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no, no," – has so far shunned proper professional help for her drink and drug abuse, quitting within hours on the few occasions she has enrolled on treatment programmes.

But friends say she is now planning to check into The Priory in the New Year and make a determined effort to end her problems.

There have been some serious talks between Amy and her management, who are trying to convince her that in order to continue her success she needs to sort out her private life.

"Her parents are also trying to persuade her to get some professional help to try to kick her drug habit."

Amy's father Mitch, who recently introduced her to Yogabeats, a yoga-based therapy that can apparently cure crack cocaine habits, is desperate for her to check into a clinic.

Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse's mum, Janis, said she was proud of both her children.

She said: "Like any parent with talented children I'm hugely proud of their achievements but can honestly say I've never pushed or cajoled them into show business. I just want them to be happy.

"I'm not in awe of greatness and don't take special credit for the way their talents have risen to the surface."

Speaking of the relationship between Amy and her brother, Alex, who has just written a Christmas pantomime, she added: "We're a strong family unit and the bond between Amy and Alex is unshakeable. He's always there for her. He's very protective of her and always will be. He doesn't like seeing her hurt or upset.

"He's upset by the current criticism of Amy, as we all are, and has asked her critics to be a bit more understanding in view of her youth."

I feel sorry for her, but im starting to think she should get her act together because she is really going down the rails now with her tour not doing well. I would of thought that her husband being in jail she can start to get her life bak on track bt that hasnt seemed to work has it?
