Cerys: I miss Marc

Singer Cerys Matthews has insisted the reason she didn't fly straight home to new love Marc Bannerman is because she wanted to spend time with her children.

As the I'm A Celebrity star jetted back to the UK yesterday, she denied claims she would rather lap up the after-show hospitality than rekindle her relationship with the ex-EastEnders actor.

Viewers have questioned their commitment after he failed to fly to Australia, as promised, to meet her.

Both have signed big-money deals to talk about their burgeoning romance on the jungle reality show - eventually won by actor Christopher Biggins, 59.

Landing at Heathrow, divorced mum-of-two Cerys, 38, said she "can't wait" to see Bannerman, 34, who played Gianni di Marco in the BBC soap.

She added: "I didn't go to any parties. I was just getting my children sorted and then we've been flying since Sunday."

Meanwhile Bannerman, who has now split from girlfriend Sarah Matravers, 33, has described himself as a "rat".

He says in an interview tonight on the ITV follow-up show, Coming Out: "I can't look for a scapegoat. The buck stops here. I can't even bear to look at myself."
