Some of the most iconic traits of Bond themes are the big, powerful ballad style songs and I worry that Billie’s vocal is too understated to live up to what we are used to hearing.

Meh, there've been plenty of good Bond themes that don't subscribe to the Shirley Bassey/Adele/Tina Turner trope.

Nancy Sinatra's is my personal favourite and it's just a subtle, crooning, slightly psychedelic ballad. Carly Simon's is a close second and she's not really a vocal powerhouse either. Of the recent bunch, Chris Cornell (RIP) was very good with a rock song as well. Garbage did "The World Is Not Enough" and I could see Eilish being in the same vein as that.

I do like billie, she’s incredibly talented, I just haven’t got into her stuff that much yet, looking forward to her sophomore album.

as for the soundtrack hoping for an eerie tune, (also i’m probably the only person that thinks this but madonna’s die another day is still brilliant to me)

A very good choice, I think she'll hit it out of the park. She does have a few songs that remind me of some of the more understated Bond songs.

After Sam Smith's dreadful attempt at emulating talent far greater than his own, I'm totally down for them stepping away from the big ballad style.

I'd agree .... Some of her songs are just stunning but the majority kinda skate over my head .. maybe they're 'growers' like the new Coldplay album ....
