I don't think people have caught onto the fact that we've entered a new phase now with social politics that has absolutely nothing to do with left/right. It's becoming meaningless. For example, there are plenty of heavily left-leaning feminists who are sceptical of self-ID, plenty of right wing capitalists who are pro-choice, pro gay marriage (or even IN a gay marriage) etc.

We need to come up with better ways to discuss this because the waters are getting very muddy.

Yeah, I agree tbh. While bigotry will never die, homophobia is pretty rare these days, and it's pretty separate from left/right politics.
