We will have no idea who/where made the right call until the threat of the virus is over (it isn't yet, anywhere) and what the resulting economic fallout looks like (spoiler: it is probably going to be absolutely ****ing catastrophic).

I have no idea how anyone is managing to make firm judgement calls on "which places got it right" at the moment. It's a bold choice when we're 3 months into a problem that's going to define an entire decade.

they are not TS

they are venting their political prejudice disguised (badly) as apolitical comment on how the virus has been handled

and many cant see the irony when criticising DT for doing just that

I mean China did hide information about the coronavirus for weeks and allegedly kept all their scientists silent who mentioned it. Had China acted properly thousands of lives across the world would be fine, it must be frustrating when USA are donating 5x more than China

i don't look into this crisis from a politically perspective though

no one does

honestly if Donnie wants to criticize people he also needs to do that to himself, the things he did wrong (but that ain't never gonna happen)

Nobody is making a firm judgement... the advice was there, no it wasn't specific to every country in the world but it was up to individual countries to take the advice and scale it to fit them...not totally disregard it and make your own decisions then start laying blame.

Trump is blaming the WHO and the media, our govt are blaming our scientists all to cover the fact they've failed in their response.

Blaming China at this point does nothing though, assign blame when it's all over, defunding the WHO organisation is just dangerous in the middle of a pandemic and it's a purely political move on Trump's part.

Every highly affected country lacked the foresight to make the necessary decisions to prevent the pandemic, most of them don't even have adequate measures in place to begin with. Bill Gates and others highlighted this issue back when Ebola was at risk of ravaging the world but the governments didn't listen.

Assign blame for the origin of the virus when it's just a memory, drag China over the coals at that point, but for now we should just focus on we're doing to fight it.

I don't think the world can afford to wait given the wet markets have reopened, what if another strain of this virus emerges on the back of this one?

They aren't donating 5x.

It's no secret that China have to be handled with kid gloves, if the WHO hadn't handled this diplomatically then the would have been kicked out of China and the first we'd have known of Covid 19 would be when people were dropping dead in the street.

They went in, they assessed the development of the virus and given the information they recieved their advice was as it is now... little has changed.

That's not assigning blame though, that's demanding China do something. That's different to defunding a health organisation in the middle of a pandemic. The former is a preventative measure, the latter is a political move.

I'm not talking about the WHO, I think the world needs to look at what China is doing right now rather than ignoring

true, WHO have been monitoring this virus since it got out of control in China

chinese government themselves could've prevented a lot tbh, they had silenced that scientist ''bat woman'' she already knew about coronavirusses in multiple bat caves, so if government had acted as they should've this pandemic might've been prevented

but past is in the past, we are now where we are, and we cannot turn back time unfortunately

How is that different to what I'm saying?

Sitting around and blaming China is pointless at this point but preventative action is always a good thing.

drag China over the coals at that point, but for now we should just focus on we're doing to fight it.

I mean there's no point in doing what Trump is doing, blaming China for the crisis while doing little to combat the problem in his own backyard.

Wet Markets are a valid concern, blaming China in place of a solid plan of attack is not.

On January 14, more than a month after the first infections at this seafood
market are thought to have taken place, the WHO tweeted saying China had
found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission
