i agree over my time here i have felt unwelcome and made to feel lower than other people purely because of the date i register, my spelling at some times and my post count

I think something should be done about this as people on this forum have created gangs of friends who pounce on people whenever they get a chance to

Many reactions towards your spelling are understandable as it's not enjoyable to read.

And I truely can't see any problem of having friends over here but you should try to talk to the people you feel uncomfortable with.

I slight see what you mean about 'Gangs', but I think that went a few months ago.

It happens on forums - thats it.

P.S - lets not cause arguments, it will only become locked later.

in know it may not be enjoyable to read but when it is like "omg you have spelt apologise with a z instead of an s" you start to feel uncomfortable

But if you did and if you don't remember you did they might help you, you know what I mean ? At the beginning, it's not meant to be mean towards you.

I've seen many members complaining about other peoples spelling. That really annoys me, some people can't spell aswell as others and need to get over it.

When I see people having digs at other members due to spelling I usually narrow it down to the member going out of their way to cause an arguement on the forum.

Just my views

Totally agree, it is just members try to gain one up on other members

People who have been here for a long time will obviously have formed groups of friends, you can't come on here and not expect that.

And with TiBB's history, a lot of people who have few posts tend to be annoying and cause trouble. And I know you've done some things which would piss people off - which is probably why you feel like this.

I agree that this place has been rather clique of late, which is one of the reasons I have been awol and dont really visit as much as I have done in the past.

I am sorry to say but some peoples tolerance (or lack of it) with new members is shocking. Everyone should be equal no matter their post number and even if someone has p'ed you off isnt it best to burry the hatched?

I'm really pedantic when it comes to spelling/grammar. I probably shouldn't be, but there's little anyone can do about that.

[apart from spell correctly, I guess.]

I so know what you mean.
No one is mean to me, but I see it happening to other members and it makes me so angry.
The people who correct other members are just trying to show that they are smarter than them and they feel they need to, to prove it, which shows their insecurity.
Ive been here for over a year now, and I have some friends, but I wouldnt say best friends. Ive learnt to deal with it. Its only the internet. lol.
My advice is to ignore anything that annoys you, and think of how pathetic the people who try to bring you down are. =D

I.M.O I think that new memebers get targeted, i also find that people who speak to each other outside the forum gang up and are horrible to people on here and b*tch about them.
I Just think that it totally unreasonable , everyone is entitled to their own opinion about someone but i think it has gone too far and everyone should be equal on this forum no matter their postcount. I get that impression that people with alot of post counts think there far superior to everyone else (Im not talking about anyone in particular)

People should remember that they were once a new member and realise that they wouldnt want to be treated with less respect just because they are new.

Exactly, I think it's quite unfair but it had to be expected. However for the spelling, you can't say it's enjoyable to read a sentence with 2 right-spelled words in it ! At least, they should all make a little bit of an effort too.

Yeah I know what you mean if its a whole post with errors everywhere, it can get annoying. But I mean when someone makes a small typo and get murdered for it.

But it does say in the rules that text speech is not allowed on the forum, but a lot of new members come on and bombard the place with it.

I have nothing against them, but at last read the rules. They're put in front of you before you join.

Maybe get a little more tolerance? I've spent years in school trying to improve on spelling and not using "their" for "there" etc, it doesn't come as easy to some as it does others and people shouldn't be jumped on for that because it really does get to you and it is SO irritating when I see people climb on that high horse and point out MINOR spelling errors towards new members because they feel they can.

It's understandable that text speech gets annoying if it's every other word but sometimes I feel that "older" members like to jump on new members over pety text speech, perhaps they feel they have a right? I was reading some of my posts from when I first joined this forum and I spoke like a complete moron, used a lot of text speech and not once did I have somebody make a snide comment, talk down to me because of it or treat me different because I was a new member. After a month or so I grew out of it and got a U2U from one of the mods reminding me about it politely.

After all, it's the mods job to do that, not ours. And as somebody said up there ^^, the majority of the time, I feel that people "call new members out" on spelling mistakes/text speech/replacing an "s" with a "z" for an arguement, to make themselves feel superior on the forum because if I saw a post with "housematez" in it, I wouldn't care less, it's not preventing me from reading the post or understanding it and I wouldn't think twice about climbing on that high horse, but some can't help themselves and it's off putting to new members. I'm glad I joined 2 and a half years ago because if I'd have joined around now and got the response new members get from "oldies" then I wouldn't stick around.

Same here actually.

And yeah, it's to be expected but it shouldn't be tolerated.

Can you honestly say you read them when you joined? I know I never. But like I said, it took a polite U2U from a mod to make me realise, not a snide "i've a thousand posts so can talk you look how I like" comment from an older member.

That's fair enough, because I can't recall having a go at you for spelling something incorrectly. But members who post with text-speech habits (such as "u" instead of "you" and other such things) irritate me the most, and they don't seem to acknowledge they're doing it. I appreciate that not everybody can be perfect all the time, but there's a difference between making a mistake every now and then, and continually making the same errors.

Spot on!!!!!!

I am severely dyslexic but I use a computer which spells as I type.....without it you would be able to tell what I have written

If I had joined now instead of when I did..... and was treated the way some people are..... I wouldnt stick around that long
