For example the pro-EU rallies didn't reverse Brexit because they didn't demonstrate a change in public opinion - it was just the people who supported Remain before and were passionate about it out on the streets.

Violence and destructive protest can have a negative effect and it is usually unjust. You have to say it is often carried out by a minority, say, 10% out of a crowd of thousands.
I totally agree with this and when innocent people and animals are targetted they lose any support I have of them, people were are board but now some are not ,simply because of the violence ,some people are now saying its more to do with Brexit now and the remainers and a kick against the Tories being in power, ,probably not true but its out there and like a lot of untruths will be believed by some, also there is the problem of this virus, they could be killing others who aren't even there, I get people are frustrated and passionate,I just dont think this is the right way to go.Shame the cause is getting lost because of the thugs out there with nothing better to do.

So if these protests are breaking civil unrest and social distancing regulations and the protests are all arranged for today as well why aren’t they prosecuting all the organisers of the events ?

Surely they’re guilty of inciting or encouraging the behaviour?

Will this carry on every day now or just weekends ?

There shouldn’t be any protests when we’re in a pandemic situation.

We are thought to be in the second wave in Manchester where the R is now at 1.1 ( possibly as high as 1.3) yet 15,000 people crammed into Manchester City centre yesterday !!

Peaceful protests are fine .. normally.. but the London protest ended up in violent scenes and will probably be the same today , I fear .

in 2 weeks time, when the numbers increase again in hospitals where all the protests were held, the government will blame the people. Yes, it's a valid protest, but a lot of people are being reckless at the same time

They’ll blame the protests and ignore the street parties and the mass gathering on beaches and the hordes of people in public parks inspired by their own incompetence with Cummings, they’ll very happily blame the people defending black people

just don't make it too crowded, enough distance between each other, and face masks also being a MUST of course

The only part where Depp comes off better, is that he identified how unhealthy it all was earlier, and basically said "we can't keep doing this... we should probably break up... the violence definitely has to stop" and Heard was like "Nah, don't wanna" ... which is an interesting choice certainly.

Off track I guess - I'm not defending her just pointing out that they were both a disaster. Either way not someone you want representing your cause.
Totally agree with this. I think they abused each other basically.

I don't think her comments were racist either. At all.

Enough of this line of thinking already.

The cause is not being lost due to some minor Incidents of violence or a couple horses being scared whatsoever. Anyone who even begins to think that never even cared much for it in the first place and is happy enough to keep things as they are.

Horses shouldn’t be used by the police in an environment when things could get hostile anyway. They’re the ones putting them at risk.

To be fair, big open spaces in the sun are a lot less "contagious" than everyone cramming into a city.

.

The cause is being ‘lost’ by people that either never understood it or never wanted to understand it

The law has to apply to everyone regardless of how deserving you think the cause is.
It’s the police who keep you safe without them you would be at the mercy of criminals.

They are far from perfect but without them the streets would run red with blood

It’s the police that face violence every day of the week they have wife’s and kids at home who love them.

A black man kills a white man and his defence is white people are racist, do we turn round and say, ok that’s fine your free to go because that’s how lots of people on here have that mentality that a crime is justified because other crimes are happening.
We wouldn't have the civil rights we have now if our predecessors didn't fight for them, civil obedience doesn't lead to change, it never has.

Your weird non-existent example is just pure white martyrdom.

Exactly, the same people who think like this will always trot out the 'few bad apples' line too in regards to the police.

If someone is looking for any reason to disparage a cause then, like as you said, they never supported the cause in the first place.

Common sense says that open spaces + sunshine are better than cramped streets, mask or no masks.

Common sense also says that people fighting for their civil rights is a valid excuse to protest and says even more that people are willing to do so in pandemic. More valid then sitting on a beach for no good reason
