I have to say, despite all of my other opinions on all of this in general, and despite the fact that I think the Harry Potter series is an absolute triumph of imagination and character/world building which is obviously also a huge part of writing ability... ... ...

...and having only read the HP series...

... ... she isn't a particularly "skilled" writer. Her pacing can be dodgy, her dialogue is often extremely clumsy and clunky, her descriptive vocabulary is limited (and not in a deliberate "because it's for kids" way, in a repetitive way) and I'll be honest and say that what I have seen/heard of this other detective series (that I didn't even know existed) sounds like utter garbage. I mean that's just the truth of the matter here . Hogwarts is an amazingly well realised concept, the core HP characters are iconic and so well fleshed out, the lore building of the series is incredible, the over-arching plot (simple as it is) works and is good but that world - from what I've seen - is her work of art. The writing style itself is functional enough to get that world onto paper and into the imaginations of others, but I don't think many real fans of writing as a craft in itself could call it "great writing" with a straight face. The HP series is obviously massive, 7 books and several of them very long ones, so you'd expect some fluctuation in quality but there are some passages that are absolute howlers. Again, often dialogue.

So yeah I'm also not going to pretend that this passage about burqas isn't absolutely abysmal dialogue... but I don't think it's guilty of anything more than that.

I agree TS, I've always loved the books and stories, but never thought they were amazing written. But Hogwarts feels like a real place, and all the named characters feel like real people.

Well, I wasn't asking for a debate on the actual quality.

Just that the quality of it isn't based on whether someone, years later, finds her politics problematic or not. There's far too many people revising their own tastes/likes/dislikes just because, shock horror, a person they've never met in their life doesn't hold all the same opinions and values as they do.
