Yeah idk why the Jussie Smolett case is still relevant in people’s minds 2 years on. When it was clear what happened, people condemned him for it and he wasn’t spared. However, despite the many wrongdoings of pro trump supporters, people are too quick to look the other way.

I’m starting to think the only reason Jussie Smolett keeps being brought up is because it’s the only success they have in proving something wrong and want to keep using this same case at every opportunity

Yes, I imagine so... You know the pickings are slim when people have to bring up a minor, petty example of people buying into dishonesty from several years ago. If there were bigger, better or more recent examples people would point to those but apparently, there are not.

Besides that - if we cared to dig up the thread - there were actually plenty of people on here (myself included) who were agreeing that some things about the Smolett accusation didn't add up and that it would be prudent to wait to see how the evidence unfolded before jumping to conclusions. Short memories, I guess. Sadly, Alf can no longer see my posts to be corrected

So following on, why? Trumpism clearly has followers, but I think this is just like the rise of the Tea Party and birtherism and hopefully Trumpism will have the same fate and be pushed to the fringes. They'll get some traction maybe a seat or two in the house but hopefully not more. The question for me, is who is going to be the main purveyor of Trumpism? Surely Ted Cruz must face some consequences for actually attempting to challenge the election so cant see a way forward for him.

What are you thoughts?

Tbf I think that the Republicans will be tarnished by this incident for years to come, and I feel sorry for their genuine supporters who have been tarnished with the cult section of the Trump fanatics.

That's why I hold Trump personally responsible for all of this because tbf to his supporters if they're hearing their idol say that the Election was "stolen" and they already don't like Biden, and some Republican Senators and Media Outlets are backing up Trump's claims, they're gonna believe the claims sadly.

Tbf I would probably respond in a similar way if I thought that we had a dictator running the UK, even if it turned out that I was wrong, what needed to happen and what still needs to happen is for Trump to admit the truth to his voters so that it all calms down.

I want to believe you but after his concession speech yesterday some of his supporters seem to have turned against him. I can only imagine this is going to add fuel to the fire
