well yeah, it feels a bit hollow and empty, but I guess if they are happy that seems to be the only objective.

Any decent interviewer would have asked Harry..."How did you react?"....but no, it was just left hanging to create the ultimate damage...

The reaction from people I've seen is kind of proving to me that most of the UK live in some sort of dream world regarding how they garbled the facts and quotes from this interview to serve their own purpose. So many people I know are trying to make out they've attacked the queen when they were nothing but complimentary to her, they even pointed out the difference between the 'firm' and the family, but that doesn't justify unjustified hatred so it gets ignored.

An entertaining article, the bit I quoted is near the end.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/a...hy-ending.html

Meghan the mermaid and a fairy tale with a fishy ending: As the Duchess claims she's like a cursed Disney character, SARAH VINE asks does her story really hold water?

The mother of one of Meghan's closest childhood friends from school, Sonia Ardakani, once revealed that her daughter and Meghan were captivated by the life of Harry's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and used to watch a video of her wedding to Prince Charles over and over.

On a trip to London in 1996, the then 15-year-old Meghan was photographed smiling excitedly with a friend in front of Buckingham Palace — just as hundreds of tourists do every day because this is where the Queen lives.
And yet this contrasts with her assertion, in this interview, that she wasn't much interested in the whole royal circus when she first met Harry.

'I went into it naively,' she says, 'because I didn't grow up knowing much about the Royal Family. It wasn't something that was part of conversation at home. It wasn't something that we followed.'

One final thought. In a now long-deleted post from her blog, The Tig, Meghan wrote: 'Little girls dream of being princesses — and grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy . . . just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about [sic] Princess Kate.'

Just look indeed.

Yes it has just been ignored, it seems one of the only reliable sources of anything re Meghan, is the Daily Mail.
I can't recall when I've seen so much of the Daily Mail.
It's like it's the paper of the forum.

Of course it's the gutter trash one digging out anyone and anything that presents a negative image of Meghan Markle
So it's gospel.
Which it isn't of course since Meghan has won a court case against the gutter trash publication.

It's true too as you state, they separated the firm/ institution from family too.
Plus never once were disrespectful or said anything disrespectful about the Queen either.

Really it is unbelievable.

The Queen was nothing but nice to them...

if that is how they treat people who are nothing but nice

give her nothing but stress, while she is isolated from her family due to the pandemic with her husband in hospital, there isn't much hope for people who were not so nice

SARAH VINE: How ironic that when anti-racist warrior Harry called his Pakistani colleague the 'P'-word, he said it was 'without malice'
By SARAH VINE

What the couple conveniently failed to mention to Oprah was the moment in 2009 when Prince Harry himself was caught up in an imbroglio over race.
This was after video footage had emerged in which he called a fellow cadet at Sandhurst a 'Pxxx' and another a 'raghead'.

So objectionable were his remarks — which came after revelations of his proclivity for dressing up as a Nazi — that Clarence House issued a fulsome apology.
'Prince Harry fully understands how offensive this term can be, and is extremely sorry for any offence his words might cause.
'However, on this occasion three years ago, Prince Harry used the term without any malice and as a nickname about a highly popular member of his platoon.
'There is no question that Prince Harry was in any way seeking to insult his friend. Prince Harry used the term 'raghead' to mean Taliban or Iraqi insurgent.'
In other words, he didn't really mean it. It was just a bit of barracks banter. And maybe it was. Maybe the soldiers concerned didn't mind at all; or maybe they did but couldn't really say very much because, well, you know — it's Prince Harry.

Well perhaps the Queen if she was so nice to them.
Should make sure her institution is there and doing a caring job to her family and staff.

My guess would be few see the Queen that much.
If you're in an environment which is hostile, which while in it, you aren't allowed to speak out about it.
It doesn't matter if for 10% of a day or week, there's someone who is really good to you but not someone, due to Royal duty and protocol you can bother with problems, having to follow the RULES.

It's good they praised the Queen, however as with others, not just with these 2, it seems the Queen has no idea of most of what's going on in her Palace and family.

Hence her sadness now at only learning of it.

More from Sarah Vine:

As the dust from that neutron bomb of an interview begins to settle, and the full extent of the fallout becomes clear, it seems Megxit has become even more divisive than Brexit.
To her many (predominately young) fans, 'Meghan's truth' is gospel, a heartbreaking tale of loneliness and victimisation.

They are grateful to her — and Prince Harry — for 'sharing' their ordeal, and angry with the perpetrators of their suffering: the British Press, the Royal Family, her family, old people, anyone who even dares question their actions, let alone voice the smallest bit of criticism.

Not content with turning their backs on the House of Windsor and the Queen at perhaps her greatest hour of need, they have decided to thoroughly trash the place on their way out.
This is not Harry and Meghan 'finding freedom'. It's them finding scapegoats, someone else to blame for all their misjudgments — and exacting a bitter revenge into the bargain.
It is a prolonged and thoroughly egocentric exercise in two people throwing their toys out of their gilded pram at a time when so many are struggling in circumstances far more traumatic than theirs.

But perhaps the most shocking element about this whole saga is the way they have taken one of the most explosive and emotive issues of our time — race — and weaponised it to devastating effect.
The accusation of racism — intimating that a member of the family 'raised concerns' about the colour of Archie's skin — is simply incendiary.
Especially since the accusation itself is so vague and seems calculated to do so much damage without actually giving any real context or sense of how, when and in what spirit the alleged remark was made......etc.

But everyone else was horrid, apparently. The amazing thing is, some actually believe that every that word that pours from her hallowed lips is the gospel truth. Even though the accounts are riddled with holes, inconsistencies and in some respects, just plain poppycock. Unbelievable.

No, she's no angel, well.no.one is, however I say again.
She's had 70 years to reform the rigid, cold institution that's been talked of before and done nothing.

Happy to let it just carry on.

For her to express sadness at learning of the feelings and problems of Prince Harry and Meghan, only at this time .
Shows how cut off she is too, even from her family and how HER staff operate.

Who mentioned Angel, this is Harrys Grandmother, would you treat your mother like that if she had been nothing but nice to you?

Yes it was framed as "said without malice" just as the alleged comment made 4 years ago probably was

pathetic
