They had been called to her house earlier in January for a welfare check. Sounds like she could have either violent, irrational or even suicidal tendancies when under the influence.
However, I don't think she has taken her own life as surely they would have found her by now??

It is. I've gone to doctors appointments pissed at my worst, when i was deep in that dark hole. It's amazing how well you can hide it.

Just seen the press conference now, I can understand why the SIO is so pissed off with all us armchair detectives tbf

I think they tried to protect the family and Nicola's reputation by not disclosing her issues with alcohol and hoped they would find the body, but as time as gone on the speculation and the press coverage have forced them to reveal it

People with a serious drink problem tend to drink spirits like vodka to consume a drink quickly to get an escape from their problems

Plus if you drink every day your body adapts so it needs more and more to get drunk

People would be amazed how much abuse the body can take

They also drink vodka as it is the easiest drink to mask the smell of

it's a pretty fundamental issue if she was unstable through alcohol

Its the Police who have released the information at a Press conference, I imagine they feel it needs to be in the.public domain for some reason
They obviously believe it to be pertinent now as they are only just releasing it. They have also asked for the end of armchair detectives on the internet speculating and reporting their theories.....
I feel so much for her partner and children....I have no idea how they are coping

So at the presser one of the first q's was "what vulnerabilities?"

and the detective went "oh we cant give out specifics yada yada yada"

few hours later "yeah she has alcohol issues and is going through the menopause"



baffling why this was released now - this whole thing has been handled appallingly and I just think its been relased for the benefit of Lancs police and noone else

Yeah, I doubt it too.

You're right though, its been handled terribly from the start....

I keep thinking and hoping she has run off but surely with all the hype around this case someone would have seen her or something

it only takes 20 mins to down a half bottle of vodka while she is walking the dog, she could easily have been impaired. Sitting on the bench drinking away while in her meeting. It's easy to understand how she left her phone behind

Looking at her recent pics, her complexion, weight, eyes and skin - nothing there suggests daily high level alcohol abuse

i have experience of this as my ex of 10+ years ago was an alcoholic. We had all the above until i sent her packing a long time after there was a problem

No children thankfully. She could down a couple of bottles of vodka and round that off with a few bottles of wine when she was going for it
