I agree that the BBC has not been consistent in its implementation of impartiality rules, but that doesn't give lineker a free pass. This highlights how unhappy people are with the BBC from all sides of politics and the main reason for that is the mandatory licence fee. Thats what the real issue is. Hopefully it will now be resolved

I've seen a call for people to withhold a month's direct debit payment of their license fee. I'd be up for that.

Good point he makes about Alan Sugar. So we can add Lord Sugar as another BBC employee who's made politically biased tweets.

He was. The shows awful now but people on here think MOTD will be better without Lineker. I doubt it will be.

Match of the day lost its appeal when other channels came along and offered better coverage. Indeed, match of the day was only poular when it was a monopoly

The issue here is that there are numerous big names on the BBC who are openly political "out of work". If this is now BBC policy... They're either all going to have to sign new contracts with social media clauses, or be shown the door.

I don't see that happening though so this all seems rather dodgy.

It would all be easier to manage if the BBC was in any part impartial.

I dont agree. To watch all live premiership games you need to subscribe to Sky, BT Sports and Prime. Live football is better watched down the pub than by subscribing IMO as the services are all quite limited for the price.

MOTD and BBC's coverage in general appeals to people like me who refuse to subscribe to all providers so therefore subscribes to none

If we really want to get to the problem of mediocre premiership football coverage, the 3PM blackout is the biggest issue.

I keep banging on about it, but this is the beginning of the end of the BBC. Its remit for a licence fee comes from it being an impartial public broadcaster, and they could get away with that before social media and when they had a monopoly on media. People are not impartial, they never have been, and they never will be

It’s not impartial because the Tories have packed it full of donors and ex party candidates who are willing to do their bidding, being angry at the institution rather than the people controlling the institution is wild

The idea of having three of the best scoring centre forwards together as a team of pundits is genius to be honest

At least WE know that they know what they are talking about when they give comments .

I have no idea at all how good or how much these female ex players know about football and so I don’t really care what they are saying .

I recall Alex Scott being on a World Cup panel with some great ex players … including Ruud Gullit and Henrik Larsson

The host specifically asked Larsson ( a fabulous goal scorer ) his thoughts on why some easy chances had been missed but before he could utter a single syllable… Alex Scott ( an ex defender ) jumped in and answered his question and she hasn’t stopped talking since - we never got to hear Henrik’s view on things

God I hope so, I'm tired of having to send pithy responses to their demands for TV license payment.

I don't watch live telly! I don't watch BBC iPlayer! I don't want your service - go away!

Honestly.

I cancelled my milk delivery subscription after the first summer because the milk kept going off on the doorstep. The milkman didn't start sending letters threatening to beat me up if I didn't pay for my milk .

There's this bizarre idea that it's something lofty and not just... A telly service.

Football Focus has been replaced by Bargain Hunt on the BBC One schedule, shortly after presenter Alex Scott said it "doesn't feel right" to go ahead with the show

Final Score also disappeared from the BBC One list, with The Repair Shop now listed for 4:30pm after presenter Jason Mohammad also said he would not appear today

Presenter Colin Murray said BBC 5 Live's Fighting Talk was not airing today "for obvious reasons", which he said was "a decision taken by the entire FT team and myself"
This is all so bizarre.

This is also true. I don't want the BBC out of the way, I want them to stop claiming they're impartial. They never were.

Yes, sack everyone who stands in solidarity with someone who’s been forced out of his job due to government overreach, definitely doesn’t sound like fascism at all

The BBC will continue on in some form, they do stuff that people like, and those people will pay a sub to watch it. The impartiality angle has been an issue coming for a long time and its crystalised for people from all sides now. For me, it can only have one eventual outcome.
