The Departed is a great remake, probably my favourite.
I also like Dune. Found the original movie a bit silly but this is much better.
Batman Begins, Cape Fear, Freaky Friday and Oldboy to name a few that I've enjoyed.

That's probably saying one of three things about the current situation in Hollywood at the moment.

1. Audiences are narrow-minded and aren't willing to give new IP's a shot.

2. The current crop of writers and directors are talentless hacks that can't come up with anything new that's actually good.

3. It's both issue 1 and issue 2 rolled into a terrible mix.
