Default School stuck with New Labours PFI can not afford to hire staff

[Schools are spending tens
of thousands of pounds more a year to
meet rising costs of contracts with private firms.
These Private Finance Initiative (PFI) schools
are locked into 25- to 30-year contracts
in which charges rise more than at
other schools.
One school said it was spending thousands
of pounds a year to keep its playing-field grass
below 2.5cm (1in), as the "rigid"
contract demanded.
PFI investors say the contracts give long-term
value for taxpayers' money.]

Sadly these days High Schools aren’t educating our young people.. they just train them to pass tests …

So relieved to be out of that crazy world

…I don’t understand the story…I mean, I do understand the story but these contracts are re-negotiated regularly so being ‘locked in for 25 plus years…’…doesn’t make any sense…also the classroom/teaching budget and the building maintenance budget isn’t generally the same budget so the spending of one wouldn’t have any bearing on the other…?..I don’t know, there seems to me to be some missing or miss information with this…t’is a bit odd….

…so far as companies not always fulfilling their full contracts etc…well yes, that’s happened since the beginning of time, no matter who the contracted company…that’s why contracts are renegotiated regularly…I don’t know why this one was locked in for so long…that’s madness…

Ammi
because the old PFI deal
£30,000 contract goes to the grass.

The Headteacher told Times Radio
& has stated he can not afford to employ new staff
because of the PFI contracts

They were set up by New Labour
