Default The Mayor of London plans to Halt Traffic on the Massive Long Oxford Street

[Plans to pedestrianise part of London's Oxford Street
have been announced by the capital's mayor.
Sadiq Khan said "urgent action" is needed to
regenerate the famous high street,
which was has been affected by
a shift to online shopping and
the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Oxford Street was once the jewel
in the crown of Britain’s retail sector,
but there’s no doubt that it has suffered
hugely over the last decade", he said.

Under the proposal, a 0.7 mile (1.1km) stretch
would be pedestrianised between
Oxford Circus and Marble Arch,
with the potential for further changes
towards Tottenham Court Road.]

Sadiq Khan. The worst thing to hit London since the Great Plague.

I thought cars were already banned on Oxford Street, only buses and taxis allowed. Mind you, I've not been for years, who would want to? I can have my pickets picked much closer to home.

Not really related to this story but you can get around Kahns ulez camera fines by simply putting Sadiq Kahn down as the registered keeper of your car, the registered keepers address is where the fine goes. Being the registered keeper is not proof of ownership of the car either. If everyone in London did this it would great.
