Default When the DOCTOR or NURSE cancels the appointment

I had a nurse appoointment (to see how my diabetes is going) at my local doctor's surgery - the first I've had for 10 years. But the surgery sent me a text cancelling the appointment. Followed by please arrange another appointment,

I know it's hard to get a doctor's appointments these days but how common is it for them to cancel appointments? Thanks.

everything is done without any slack these days. If a nurse's car breaks down on route to the surgery .... forget it. We want the NHS to be cheap, but complain when things are stretched thin .... they can't win

I had to travel 50 miles to a hospital so i didn't have to wait months for an appointment. That sort of stuff is the norm these days

The nurse you mean. That's a lot of cancelled appointments then.

Yeah well, a mate of mine asked me to shift some furniture for him today. I said I couldn't do it because I had this nurse appointment. He got someone else.

My bruv's changed his doctor because he didn't like the manner of the other doc. Far too rude.

I work in a surgery...and its not very common. If they are sick then its unavoidable although we would call you to arrange another appointment. In fact our GP's and Nurses are rarely sick and that's quite amazing bearing in mind they are often confronted with infections and colds etc.

Yes I was very surprised it was cancelled.

But I have another appointment next Thursday so they might combine both appointments. Maybe that's what they were thinking. I was mistakeningly doubled booked in such a short time.

…I guess the way to look at it is that it’s better to have a cancelled appointment than be in a close up situation in a confined room with someone who is ill and possibly contagious so if a GP is ill then not doing their surgery is the best thing, some patients would be very vulnerable…I do understand how you’re probably eager to know how it’s going with your Diabetes, though…especially as it’s such a recent diagnosis and the circumstances surrounding that diagnosis when you collapsed….i hope that you get that new appointment and update soon, Gusto…
