It's actually because they kill the weird critters that only exist in Australia. Bit of an odd place really, biodiversity-wise. I'd let the cats take root, personally, but woke wildlife type folks would rather have the strange Aussie insects and rodents thrive than let the cats kill them.

i love the diversity in Australia and I like that they are so protective of stuff that they let in the country to protect their bio diversity. But i'm not going to lie, there is no way i could cope with all the slithering and crawling creatures that can kill you. Even kangaroos, emu's and ostriches are blinking lethal
