I have a very close personal association with Anyika’s family (the “how” is personal and not this forum’s business, but that’s besides the point anyway) and I’ve grown to admire her more since her book (titled “The Hidden Race”) came out on Amazon, but this isn’t just about me. Some may revert to usual stock-criticism when it comes to these kinds of concepts (‘it’s over-thinky,’ ‘it’s too out-there for a Big-Brother forum,’ whatever) but I’m referencing something far more important in the grand scheme of things, speaking not from a myopic, very particular experiential point of view laced with underlying misogyny but from the heart and convinced that everyone on this forum (especially women with either an interest in sports themselves or people who know females with an interest in the sphere) at-least has a go at trying to watch this video and holding space for individual women’s experiences in this regard. Her points about misogyny are things some of this forum can definitely relate to.

I would like a bit of direct resonance with this thread, so by all means, get the (constructive) comments rolling, if you find any of the video of interest. Don’t be a stranger.

I'll subscribe to this thread, so I can watch it later.
I'm always up for hearing someone else's perspective.

Yep. And yet there are people out there who’ll say that racism doesn’t exist in the U.K. like that (just thinly-veiled xenophobia).

If Anyika thinks the term All Lives Matter is ridiculous then she would be horrified to know that there was a White Lives Matter group at one point, when discussing BLM.

I do think that Anyika conducted herself well tbh. Race topics aren't really my jam as a personal preference, but she did explain her perspective on things quite well imo. And I seriously hope that the Police caught the culprit/culprits who were using Fire Bombs.

It really is.
It caught me off guard when she brought it up, as it wasn't what I was expecting to hear.

I think a lot of people would be shocked at the things black people have historically gone through in the Western world because of racism, tbh. But the difference is, someone like you is willing to hold space for these people’s experiences and learn from it, which makes all the difference and it’s good to witness. People who play it down with ‘you’re on the corner over-thinking all-alone; unchecked immigration is still a problem and reduces my sympathy for anyone of colour, first-generation or not, illegal or not,’ and they certainly exist on this forum, are the worst. People who have a very particular scope of experience that doesn’t allow for depth, and think everyone-else should just think what they think, or risk being “the odd one out”, like it’s a playground.
