The older brother of Oasis duo Noel and Liam Gallagher has been charged with a string of offences including rape, coercive control and sexual assault.

Paul Gallagher, 59, who lives in Manor Park Road, East Finchley, was charged by London's Metropolitan Police following an investigation that began last year.

In a statement, the force said Gallagher has been charged with "rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm".

The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022 and 2024, the Met Police added.

"The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially-trained officers," it said.

Gallagher is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 27 August.

liam an noel or not what could be described as normal by any measures either. They may not have gone as far as their brother, but its pretty clear all is not right and thats a view i've always held
