Badenoch: Britain deserves better than this
Kemi Badenoch said “Britain deserves better” as she accused Sir Keir Starmer of being too weak to sack Angela Rayner as his deputy.

The Tory leader said: “Angela Rayner is finally gone. But it’s only because of Keir Starmer’s weakness that she wasn’t sacked three days ago.

“Britain deserves better.”

Keir Starmer has managed to pick:

An anti-corruption minister who resigned after being accused of corruption.

A homelessness minister who resigned after making people homeless.

A housing minister who resigned after a home tax scandal.

Sir Laurie Magnus’s conclusions make clear that he thought Angela Rayner had acted in good faith over her stamp duty blunder but nonetheless had broken the ministerial code, writes Ben Riley-Smith.

It all came down to the fact that she was told to get proper tax advice over the purchase but did not.

Had she done that, the ethics adviser said, the Deputy Prime Minister would likely have been told to pay the higher amount of stamp duty.

His conclusion, therefore, that Ms Rayner had broken the ministerial code left her and the Prime Minister with no option. She had to go.

It's insane Rayner was considered to be worthy of being the Prime Minister.

I wouldn't put her in charge of running my bath tonight.

Good riddance.

So basically she lied when she said she had been given incorrect advice no wonder she was nearly in tears in the interview with Beth Rigby
