[One of the journalists killed in Israel's strikes today
was a freelancer who worked
for The Associated Press.

She was 33-year-old Mariam Dagga,
whose 12-year-old son was evacuated
from Gaza earlier in the war.

The news agency has now put out
a statement reacting to her death.

The Associated Press is shocked and saddened
to learn of the death of visual journalist Mariam Dagga,
along with several other journalists,
at the Nassar Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza.

Mariam regularly based herself at the
hospital for coverage. Her recent work
included strong stories of starving and malnourished
children in Gaza.
She freelanced for the AP and other news outlets.

We are doing everything we can to keep
our journalists in Gaza safe as they continue
to provide crucial eyewitness reporting
in difficult and dangerous conditions.]
