To be fair they were looking at the housemate picture wall and choosing "one from each column" during this conversation as well.

Not that I'd say the conversations aren't steered at all by producers but in this instance I think it cropped up kinda organically. The fact it was aired when it was one of 10000s of throwaway comments made by them during the day was just savvy editing I suppose.
