Default Globally, Amazon online is cutting 16,000 jobs (A.I. effect)

Was just reported on SkyNews Live

Globally, Amazon is cutting 16,000 jobs
because of the adoption
of artificial intelligence tools.

[Cutting 16,000 jobs worldwide in the second
A major round of layoffs at the company in
three months, as it restructures after
pandemic-era over-hiring and expands the adoption
of *artificial intelligence tools.
Reuters first reported last week that Amazon
was planning a second round of job cuts
as part of a broader goal of trimming about
30,000 corporate roles,
with the layoffs expected to affect workers
in Amazon Web Services, retail,
Prime Video and human resources departments.]

Exclamation

Xiaomi has unveiled a fully automated "dark factory" in Changping, Beijing, that operates
24/7 without human production workers, producing up to 10 million smartphones annually.
Powered by AI and advanced robotics, this 80,000-square-meter facility handles
assembly, testing, and packaging, capable of producing one smartphone every second.

I am boycotting Amazon. Pretty soon there will be a dozen unimaginably wealthy people and no one will have a job.

AI isn't replacing jobs in any amount close to what was being predicted. You only need to look at microsofts copilot to understand business just doesnt want it

AI is great for maths, coding tasks and medical research, but give it a task to do that doesn't have volumes of reference data on the internet and it's very weak.

This may change over time, but not before there is a complete consolidation in the AI world which will happen this year or next

Amazon employs around 1.6 MILLION people so 16,000 is 1% cuts by my reckoning .
