SIR – Stephen Pollard hits the nail on the head (“Donald Trump has just demonstrated the decisive leadership the West needs”, telegraph.co.uk, February 28).
President Trump has shown more backbone than all the European leaders combined. Our own Prime Minister is an embarrassment. Negotiations with Iran have dragged on for decades, and been used as a stalling tactic by Tehran while it pursues nuclear weapons and regional supremacy. The destruction of this odious regime will bring monumental benefits to the people of Iran, the Middle East and the world. Alan Tomlinson Cheadle, Cheshire SIR – Our weak Prime Minister equivocated about the American and Israeli action against Iran, while Dame Emily Thornberry condemned it as a breach of international law. This is the same international law that has allowed Iran to become the largest sponsor of global terrorism, is continuing to look on as the mullahs attempt to enrich uranium, and has seemingly failed to notice that the regime has recently murdered thousands of its own citizens. If these aren’t imminent threats, I’m not sure what meets that definition. A nuclear warhead on its way to London from Tehran, perhaps. Well done to Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage for their immediate support of our allies. Fred Fearn Burton Bradstock, Dorset |

Interesting theory about current developments that appeared in my feed and since it directly involves Britain and has potential entertainment value, I'm sharing it here:
NEW: While every talking head screams "Iraq 2.0," @Barbaramboyd explains what they'll NEVER tell you — 118 years of British financial control over Iran, and why Trump just struck the last piece on the Empire's chessboard.
It's 15 minutes but life is still short so here are some of the talking points: Quote:

War doesn't work like that, unfortunately. Otherwise all allies would just sit back and do nothing allowing for everyone else to destroy each other which they can then come up the pieces. It can work if them getting involved would make it a huge problem for that nation, but it's not a guarantee. Allowing the US to take them out and make them less of a problem for everyone does help that, though.

We have to protect our interests and defend our citizens in the affected areas. Iran has decided to attack them, so we either sit back and do nothing, or take steps to assist them. Allowing our airbases to be used assists them, it's as simple as that

![]() [Officials are planning to evacuate hundreds of thousands of Britons as fires raged across the Gulf last night. After the US air strikes on Tehran, and Iran's suicide-drone revenge attacks on tourist hot-spots including Dubai, 94,000 British citizens have registered their contact details with the Foreign Office - many of them holiday-makers visiting the region or transiting through it. It came as Keir Starmer agreed to a US request to use British military bases to hit Iranian missile sites.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...use-bases.html |
