Default Big Brother... just how popular is it?

Heey. =)

This question has been bothering me for quite a while now... but after reading newspapers and things, asking some friends and family, and searching other forums, I think I've seen a lot more Big Bro-hate than Big Bro-love. It's quite worrying for me, because I love the show, and I don't want it to end...

So it raises the question - just how popular is Big Brother? Is it more hated than loved? Is it actually a bad show? (UK, mainly)

Thanks

It is more hated than loved but it gets high viewing figures compared to other TV shows.

Of course its more hated than loved. 58 milion people live in the UK. 4 million in Ireland. Overall on average a series would get 5.5 mill veiwers. That shows that about 8% of Britian/Irleand watch it.

I don't think it should annoy you, and inevitably it's going to have to end some time, so enjoy it while you can

The media is jealous of BB. We all know how many fans there are of BB... Lots! Its probably more hated than loved and thats all the media's fault. There are probably a number of people that wanted to begin to watch but were put off by what newspapers and magazines were saying about the show.

I think its great and many others agree. In different countries also, BB breaks all sorts of records, its unique and different and thats what makes it exciting.

I wouldnt say 5.5 million(Only BB3 has averaged more than that). But about 3 or 4 series of BB have averaged 4.7 million.

I think its more popular than viewing figures show. 5,000 homes are tested for viewing figures thats not enough. The amount of press the show gets I would think at least 6million watch a night, until every home in the UK is included in the viewing figures I refuse to believe them.

hehe, I know... it will just be such a shame when it ends. Then it should come back in 10 years time and kick the media's ****.

Hehe... but seriously, the newspapers and stuff should be grateful for Big Brother if it wasn't around, what would they have to talk about?

I think it is actually quite popular.

But at the end of the day? does it matter.
Why do people judge a series based on viewing figures- its ridiculous.
If you like a series. enjoy it, watch it, love it.
