Victoria Jenkins, 23, originally from Cwmbran, now of Pontyclun, scooped second place, while judges placed Rachel Rice, 19, from Cwmbran, third.

Student Rachel said: "I can't believe it, I am really pleased. Last year I was in the top five and now I am second runner up. I will enter again next year and try again to win it."

Imogen Thomas, 20, a student from Llanelli, was crowned Miss Wales 2003 by the three judges, including Olympic sprinter Christian Malcolm.
