I certainly noticed!

Only one more week to go! But what a wicked way to decide next weeks split, making the 'winner' and 'loser' pick teams! There's bound to be more unhappy faces

Im so happy this is happening!
I heard Phillip say it on the show and was sooooooooooo ecstatic!!!!
Another week will bring us a bit more tension, some more arguments and some tough decisions and then its back to what we all love - the 'real' format of Big Brother!!!

As I understood it there will be one more week of the bars and then they will be given the opportunity to unite the house again with the removal of the bars.

It may be decided on the success or otherwise of the Task the week after next.
So they may go or they may stay. If anyone understands it differently please let me know. I just want them to go go go.

Im not too sure about that bananarama but Phil did say that the bars were never gonna be a permananent fixture, just during the middle of the show. I dont know if this means it is up to the housemates to decide their fate but I dont reckon the producers would be that harsh.... or would they?

Ok. I have just replayed that part of BBLB and its a bit contradictory.

First the boss said that the bars were intended for the mid part of the show and not to be a permanent feature.

But at the end he said that the housemates would be given the "chance" to bring the house back together via the saturday task.

So. I can only assume if they failed the task on that particular saturday then the bars would remain yet again for another week longer than which the first statement said that they were coming down after next week. See what I mean about being contradictory.

I happened to tape BBLB tonight and thought you might like to read a transcript of the whole coversation between Dermot and BB Bigwig Producer Philip Edgar Jones:

Dermot - There's been alot of debate about dividing the house in two. How did that idea come about?
Phil - They had a similar idea in Holland, where they split the house in two, and the we sort of thought about it long and hard. It's a big thing to do in the Boig Brother world. But it's done some amazing things in the house. Part of the thinking behind it was to make the tasks less predictable and to mean more, so on a Saturday night when they do the task, it really fundamentally affects the lives in the house afterwards.
Dermot - Are you surprised or relieved how it's all turned out......or worried?
Phil - Oh I think it's been great! One of the other things it's done, is to stop people hiding in the Big Brother house. Someone like PJ.....we wouldn't have seen the real PJ if the bars hadn't gone in. We wouldn't have had the brilliant arguement last night between Adele and Jade if the bars hadn't gone in. We wouldn't have had this amazing gladatorial contest between Spencer and Alex this week, if the bars hadn't gone in. It's made the whole thing unpredicatable because it pulls the carpet out from under their feet every week. It means you can't hide in the Big Brother house.
Dermot - Now Kate and Spencer got a strike for crossing the divide, Jade spoke about nominations, Time very foolishly...........
Phil - He's on the verge of a strike!
Dermot - He clumsily gave away the whole world cup thing...why didn't he get a strike?
Phil - Well he has been warned. Before anyone gets a strike they get a clear and unequivocal warning that if they break any other rules they will get a strike. He's been given that warning...you will see it on tonights show...and the next time he breaks a rule he'll get a strike, he's on the verge , he's on the cusp!
*They both talked about the world cup for a while as an Irishman and a Scotsman!!*
Dermot - Finally...the BIG ONE!!! Are the Bars a permanent fixture?
Phil - Oh NO NO NO!!!! They were always meant to do a specific job in the middle of the series, but they'll be in for another week. After this weeks task, there is going to be another very difficult choice to make in the task show this Saturday night.
Dermot - Oohhh...can you tell us what that is?
Phil - Well, whatever the task is...and I can't tell you what the task is...they'll be a winner and they'll be a loser. The winner will live in the richside, the loser will live in the poorside, and they will have to pick teams very much like in the playground.
Dermot - Oh No!!!
Phil - Which is quite a painful choice to have to make. And then the following week we're going to give the housemates the chance to bring the house together as one and lift the bars completely through the task. So watch this space because that will happening that week!

Hmmmm very interesting indeed... but it's from the horses mouth so at least we know it is the real story of whats been going on and what is going to happen, instead of all speculations and rumours that have been flying around. Of course it could be that the BB Producers have come up with a plan of attack that makes them save face...who knows but at least those rotten bars are coming down....for good....or is it a case of expect the inexpected and we will find they are put up again just to stir up even more controversy...I think the Big brother as we have come to like has been spoilt enough don't you think?

I think you're right, bananarama. When Phil said the housemates would have the chance to have the bars removed, I took this to mean that they would have to pass the task for this to happen. If they didn't, they would stay put.

I'll definitely have my fingers and toes crossed that they pass the task!

As for this Saturday's task - that's an even crueller decision than last week's. The winner can pick who lives with them on the rich side, but the loser will be put in an impossible position of having to choose which housemates will live with them on the poor side! That's completely evil!

I missed BBLB tonight as I got in late from work. This sounds very interesting and I do so hope that it's true and that the house will be reunited.

In an odd sort of way it is annoying for me that they have just announced this though as I have been asked to ask the panel a direction question about the bars and whether they should be there on the live debate program shown tomorrow night. It doesn rather take the sting out of the question if they can now turn around and say that theyu are coming down.

I am glad they are going though.

Could be Lee, maybe why they've said it now because they knew they would get load's of flack, there isnt anyone I've heard or talked to liked those bars.

I think that the producers have (finally) taken on board everything people have been saying about the divide in the house. I honestly believe that without the fuss that fans have made, those bars would have stayed.

They are now tring to say they were only ever meant to be there for a short time - I think this is a face saving exercise.

The examples he gave that wouldn't have happened without the bars, are for the most part, completely ridiculous. OK we wouldn't have seen the mean and nasty side of PJ perhaps, but we probably would still have had Adele and Jade's handbags at dawn argument, we would still have the contest between Alex and Spencer - given the reasons people gave for nominating them, the house divide made little difference.

To say it's made everything unpredictable is also a nonsense. It's made it totally predictable - the rich side have had the opportunity to wallow in luxury and the poor side have starved, have been demeaned by having to risk a strike to get something to eat, etc, etc. Was there anything more sad than PJ and Jonny sniffing the steak Jade was cooking - how belittling is that? Unless, of course, it was the pathetic sight of Kate potentially risking a strike for ONE Pringle.

I'm glad the producers appear to have listened to the general public and, given the housemates an opportunity to regain their dignity. Hopefully, it will get back to the BB we know and love.

It would be nice to think that the producers have listened to the general public and that is why they have decided to (possibly) take the bars down.

I have a feeling, however, that the reason may simply be that, by Saturday week, there will be only 7 people left in the house.

Whatever, I will be delighted to see them go.

Face saving turnaround if ever I heard one, I took it they were there for the duration at least I'm sure some one E mailed C4 and got such a reply.

Good idea for them to come down - they were Ok for the first week but no more.

When the bars first went up the housemates were told, they were up for the rest of BB, so they have backtracked and I'm sooooooo glad

Default Week 4!!

BBLB did it again at 7.00pm tonight. Anyone else notice, or care!.....LOL

I got the impression its a done deal, but Dermot was in a hurry to say it is kinda part of a plot, so, here we are again.

Can't be many weeks to go so my guess is it will be a lot easier than last week. Any questions they ask that is! Hmmm

Yeh. I heard it too. promises promises.

Dermot said they were coming down saturday and then Sophie started about it being the Saturday task and Dermot told her you have said enough or words to that effect and Sophie had to shut up on the subject.

I will believe it when I see it.

I think they've worn that bit of hype out now, they've been up so long now I doubt anyone cares anymore. I don't not after last week's fiasco.

They will promise the bars will come down if the house mates pass a task.

Now where have we heard that one

Endemole UK want the bars to stay, and this promise is a Sop to us critics.

As they say in the public sector "Believe it when it happens"

The powers that be confirmed on BBLB that the bars are coming down Saturday.
When Dermot pressed them about the task and they might fail. They said that the housemates will have to work for it and it's going to be something unusual!!!!!!!
