I'm not sure if this is in the right place?

Anyway...

Right I've just left school and looking for a job, I've been around like nearly everywhere in my town handing in CV's and looking around for jobs. Do you guys/girls have any suggestions on how to get a job more quickly? or is this just how it's going to be until I just get that lucky call back and interview?

My argos dont, they always say they do but they dont. You need some experience so i suggest starting off somewhere rubbish like Mcdonalds. Or even try and get a volunteer job (Ring up a cattery or a a charity shop).

Once you have experience you will have more chance of getting a job, but really your best bet is to go into further education.

I have left school and need to find a part time job while im at college but I am picky about what I will do
So I decided I would find it ok in this one shop but they didn't have any work so now I am back to square one
I'm just not cut out for work and I don't know where I can go which I will like.

It's best if you know somebody who's already at a place, so they can ask. As they tend to give jobs to staff's family and friends first.

Go to a supermarket like me, Tesco is really good.

You are right, I have got the choice of 3 jobs at Tesco because my mum works there but I have to be 16 and 6 months and I have only just turned 16
So I have to wait 6 months for a job or go out and find another one

Try asking in local small newsagents or something, or a huge corporation (i.e. McDonalds). You can either use them to get experience to get a more longterm job, or stick with them.

Stick to handing out your CV everywhere.

Best way to get a job is simply perseverance, which it seems your doing now. Keep pushing your CV make sure its realistic and genuine, people who read it will appreciate its sincerity which goes a long way.

Look on the local Job centre website and apply for anything that you feel you could do well and with genuine enthusiasm, this will help you in an interview and people will be able to see you WANT this job rather than will just do it.

A good idea too, is to sign on for as many employment agencies too, these will get you some varied experience in work you can add to a CV aswell as and it all helps convince a permanent employer that you are a reliable and good worker.

Above all you need a bit of luck in these times of 'mini' recsssion but with the perseverance your showing now, you should get what you deserve pretty soon, I hope you do as you seem to care enough about the work ethics and that more than anything will help you a great deal.

I've had an interview with Tesco [through my Father] and they wouldn't take me. Apparently it was an interview on 'personality' and they don't care about qualifications on CVs.

A girl in my year handed her CV to 50 stores and only received 2 replies, both telling her they don't need anyone.

It's impossible here.

That's true, mine was on 'personality' at Tesco too, but they accepted me. God knows why! Lmao. I'm really friendly with the manager who gave me the job now

I have decided to do volunteer work in a charity shop which i'm against because I only do thing which I get something out of
But I thought I will make an exception this one time because it will get me some experience, boost my confidence for when I do get a job and it will stop me from being bored because I have had too long off school now.
So I might look for a volunteer job tomorrow.

But i Went To My Careers Advisor And Shes Sending Me On a Get Ready For Work Course That You Do Upto 5 Months And Are Guranteed A Good Out Of It And You Still Get Paid For This !!

and thank you, will just carry on which I've been doing (handing out CV's and hoping to get an interview and/or maybe a job) oh plus asked my mum about anything at her job, i doubt i could get anything at my dads job seeing as engineering is apparantly going to china

Yeh just push your CV's aswell, i've been pushing CV's but not luck, whatever you do don't be fussy dont say you wont work somewhere because you dont like it. A jobs a job, but the fact is your looking at a busy time, everyone is looking at this time of year from the age of 16 - 24 or something there is alot of competition so be bubbly and make everyone fall in love with you.

Yeah I'm not too fussed where I work, Money is money I just want to get my new laptop as soon as possible and yeah summer is apparantly the time of year to sign up so hopefully should get something

Sorry but thats a load of rubbish. I'm not denying that your argos doesn't take anyone on but I know plenty who have put their CV in one and managed to get a job soon after. Also experience starts with weekend jobs, not the company you work for.

Further education is also vastly overrated. Not many people who come out of Uni actually get a job in the field they've studied in and wasted money on.

So you approve a job in argos over further education? The only reason i promote further education is that you could be working in a job that you actually enjoy doing rather than sitting in an office or at a cashier every day for the rest of your life.
My mum brought me up to follow my dream because you only live once and you work for pretty much half of your life so you might aswell enjoy it, so is further education stupid? No is it hell, dont plague peoples minds with your rubbish someone might take it seriously. just because you think its rubbish doesnt mean it is.
And I only said my Argos in my town never hires people so dont start getting all hot headed at me

I believe that's down to the person not having enough ambition, rather than the institution of University/FE.
