Default Anyone about to start year 11...

There's a new law, we've been told, in every British school which means Year 11s no longer get the extra 12 weeks off after exams and must stay in school until the end of July like everyone else.

I think it's stupid - we'd have finished the courses and just being taught subjects we're done with...our school has been told you get fined if you don't turn up...anyone else heard about this?

Wow...really?
Thank god I finished this year. But I think its unfair. After an exam period as important as GCSE's...the students are entitled to a long-earned break. Well those who did work hard.

I am glad I have gone past it, I couldn't of done the exams without leave.
There is no point turning up to do basically nothing.
Last year my school was told the same but their is some way in which students can still get their leave.

Or some schools *cough* just tell you that you aren't getting study leave so you don't plan on getting eggs when they by "surprise" give you study leave and egging particular teachers windows despite there being a shop across the road and the gates wide open so you could just run out and do it anyway

I don't think everyone read the first post fully they said that the extra 12 weeks AFTER the exams wont be cut... although I'm not sure where they got 12 extra weeks from :S Because I didn't get 12 weeks.

Maybe he/she got it wrong. Or I have got it wrong.

When I was in school they told us we wouldn't get exam leave but then sprung it upon us out of no where, probably to make sure we didn't plan anything stupid. If I had to stay in to the end of july... summer of '06 would of never of been the same lol.
