Dark horse = a potential winner who you wouldn't expect.

Underdog = A person/thing you'd expect not to win.

Similar, but not the same.

I thought they were the same thing to be honest. Dark horse is really someone coming out of nowhere and taking the winnings. Underdog is someone that was never gonna win but managed it somehow.

Maybe?

omg!

aisleyne was the best then!
i thought shed be evicted.....and when she was in the final i thought shed be 5th or 6th place....yet she was 3rd! O.O

this year..in a way the ones that are left are sort of an underdog then......as we have no idea who will actually win!

Underdog: Leicester vs Man U. Leicester would not stand a chance.

Dark horse. Let me think... A team that should not normally win against Man U, but due to the way they have been playing recently could just do it vs Man U.

I'd say (using Nurse57's examples)

Underdog: Fulham to win the Premiership this year - no chance, and if they did do it, it would come from nowhere.

Dark horse: Liverpool/Arsenal to win the Premiership this year - the outside favourites. If they won, it's not a massive shock, you just wouldn't expect it.

A dark horse can still lose.

In betting terms.

Underdog: Rank outsider.

Dark horse: Outside chance.

So I'd say right now that Nicole is the underdog (125/1) and Lisa is the dark horse (8/1 - came from 100/1)
