Default Thats it, Emmerdale has lost the plot

The cast of Emmerdale are reportedly becoming displeased with the show's 'tacky' and 'unsuitable' storylines.

One scene which recently caused controversy among the cast and crew during filming saw Douglas Potts (Duncan Preston) itching his groin in the village shop after catching a sexually transmitted infection.

An Emmerdale source told The Mirror: "This has to be the tackiest soap story of all time.

"Duncan was horrified. His character has casual sex, ends up getting crabs and is seen scratching himself in the corner shop. How can this possibly be suitable for a 7pm audience? Duncan is a top actor and it is terrible that he has had to go through this crackpot charade."

They continued: "Some people are so unhappy they are seriously thinking of throwing in the towel. It is not the happy place it used to be. They have got rid of good people.

"Anita doesn't seem to know what she wants. At first it was a return to family values, whatever they are. I wouldn't like to try to explain to children why Douglas is fiddling about with his nether regions."

A spokeswoman for the Yorkshire-based soap, however, said: "It raises awareness of what can be an embarrassing infection and stresses the importance of seeking medical advice."

TV walkout threat as actors accuse soap of getting 'too tacky'

EMMERDALE'S cast and crew are in revolt over "tacky" and unsuitable storylines, The Mirror can reveal.

They claim the show is being turned into a laughing stock and some are privately threatening to walk out in disgust.

The final straw came with the filming of a scene in which Douglas Potts - played by Duncan Preston, 62 - is shown scratching himself in the village shop after catching a sexually transmitted condition.

One insider stormed: "This has to be the tackiest soap story of all time.

"Duncan was horrified. His character has casual sex, ends up getting crabs and is seen scratching himself in the corner shop.

"How can this possibly be suitable for a 7pm audience?" The insider, who does not want to be named, added: "Duncan is a top actor and it is terrible that he has had to go through this crackpot charade.

"Some people are so unhappy they are seriously thinking of throwing in the towel." Just last month the Mirror revealed Emmerdale chiefs were preparing to cut actors' pay and get rid of some characters as the credit crunch hit the Dales.

There is also growing disenchantment with series producer Anita Turner, dubbed Anita Turn-off by some staff.

The source added: "It is not the happy place it used to be.

They have got rid of good people.

"Anita doesn't seem to know what she wants. At first it was a return to family values, whatever they are.

"I wouldn't like to try to explain to children why Douglas is fiddling about with his nether regions." An Emmerdale spokeswoman said the storyline was being dealt with in an appropriate way.

She added: "It raises awareness of what can be an embarrassing infection and stresses the importance of seeking medical advice." The spokeswoman declined to comment on the morale on set.

The show lost it years ago, the last decent episode of Emmerdale aired in 2004, ever since the show rapidly declined. 2004 was a brilliant year, with the storm and the Charity/ Chris storyline, but the show has just totally been ruined.

Lol
2006 was a good year for Emmerdale to, then "Who killed Tom King?" quickly turned it into "Who's killing Emmerdale?"

Last time i watched it was when Carl was revealed to have killed Tom King. It was such a predictable ending that I was deeply disapointed with it and never bothered again.

What a waste to have all these actors who have worked hard to get on the show and then get them to scratch their groin on tv for the story line. How degrading for an actor!
