Default Simon on Ruth

Simon really annoyed me last night. I do admit that Ruth's first performance wasn't fantastic but Purple Rain was outstanding, one of the best this series imo, but Simon still goes on about her singing in Spanish, even after that performance. He contradicts himself so much. He tells those who try something different to stick to what they are good at and he tells people who stick to what they're good at [Alexandra] to experiment.
He doesn't give Ruth enough credit.

I really get the impression that Cowell is really playing dirty to win the show.

He knows that his boys are nowhere near as good as the five female singers in the show and he knows unless he doesn't do something to undermine them then he will lose.

His comments are designed to knock the confidence of the contestants and play on their nerves and ultimately see them voted off the show.

He knows hat the public listen to him and think everything he say's is true and the more he say's something the more they believe it.

Look what he did to Ruth last night. Her first performance wasn't great but it was good enough not to make the bottom two, but Cowell undermined her and the public lost confidence in her and didn't vote for her. Even this morning in the press a lot of the commentators are echoing his words, not because they are correct but because you can't say his wrong in the eyes of the public.

Danni was right about giving Ruth a more rocky type sound as she proved when she sang Purple Rain, but Cowell carried on his little plan and told her unless she sings in Spanish she would be out of the show.

Now unless she does sing in spanish she will be out the show next week. Such is the power of Cowell. The problem for Ruth is if that she does sing in spanish every week then she will be boring and will go anyway. He set up a real catch 22 that will she her out of the show.

At the moment his comments are aimed at taking out Danni's little group but it won't be long before he uses the same tactics on the other girls.

I just think that he liked it when she sung in Spanish because it seemed more natural, and he just generally wants Alexandra to experiment more so we remember her. She has a fantastic voice but she's so unoriginal, especially on TXF, because she just reminds me of Leona, and the song choices really aren't helping with that

Maybe he does, but for Cowell it's all about winning the show with one his acts. It doesn't matter if they are the best act as long as he wins.

My estimation of Cowell's abilities to give good, helpful and comments on a performance grew as I watched him on American Idol this year, especially in regard to how he handled David Cook. He seemed to what to say each week to make him raise his game. However now my opinion of him as a judge is at an all time lie. he is a sneaky, underhand, lying little scum bag and his words are not worth listening too.

The problem is Cowell's competitive nature coupled with the format of the show where the judges mentor a group of singers.

I use to think the format was a positive feature that made the show more interesting than the American Idol, however now I seeing it as a limitation. I really think the pop idol format is better after the last two shows.

I don't want to see a group of judges fighting over who as the best act. That's not why I watch it. I watch it to see people with talent prove how good they are and I expect the best person to win because they good, not because their mentor is better in the propaganda stakes.

He out to get them. Both of them are threats to the boys and in the case of Ruth he wants to stamp his authority over the Danni and belittle her and her acts. He is a man on a mission.

Like I said before if Ruth sings in spanish every time she is on the show she might as well be in Benidorm because that is where she will singing when the public vote her off when they get bored with her singing is spanish.

As for Alexandra he wants her out her comfort zone because if she stays in it she will walk it to the final. She already a world class performer and could be moulded into a world super star. She is every inch a diva. If she experiments then there is a chance she will go wrong and then she might be voted off and that is what he wants.

Cowell's tongue is poison and he can't be trusted when it comes to the x-factor.

Simon's attempts to undermine the other acts are petty, but I think they're mostly cannon fodder for his panto-feud with Louis. I think Simon wants to get rid of some of the female singers, because of the large saturation of powerful female singers in the competition at the moment, he knows that Scott won't be in it for long, and Eoghan might not benefit from the "cute" vote for much longer either, so I think he's hoping to score some points by single handedly dumping one of Cheryl's girls out of the competition, and one of Dannii's over 25s.

You have hit the nail on the head. He will try and pick them off one by one and he will work like hell with Austin to make sure he stay's in to the end. He is the only chance he has got.

Yeah, I mean Simon obviously benefits whoever wins, but he's clearly a competitive man. Every series he's had someone in the final (Steve, Journey South, Leona, Same Difference) and is a twice winner. Austin is clearly his only hope, and there's no way he's going to allow it to be a female dominated final.

I agree, a lot of use I have noticed think all three of the girls group should make it too the final, and if you look it on talent alone both Ruth and Rachel are both potentially better than Austin. Last night, Ruth with Purple Rain we saw what she can actually do, it was just a shame she had to be in the sign off to prove it. Cowell will do everything to trip up the all girls along the way to the final.

Think the closest you'll get it 'Whatever Happens' which features a Spanish Guitar

Ruths version of Purple Rain was the most beautiful thing i have ever heard. Simon just wanted to make them even more aquard by bringing in Deadlock. Ruth was way better.

That isn't hard. Leona has less charisma than a turnip.

At first I thought Cowell took it to deadlock knowing Ruth would survive and it would encourage her to challenge Danni to make sure she sang in spanish again.

But looking at in the cold light of day I think he saw it as his chance to get rid of her. She is one of the five strongest singers in the show and he knows it. The sooner she is gone the better for Cowell.

Of course Danni will resist the urge to make her sing in spanish again just to upset Cowell, and he will carry on his tactic of saying she should sing in spanish, until it public believe him and stop voting for her.

Ruth's version of Purple Rain was the best performance of the night by far, it was just a shame for her it wasn't a Prince night rather than Michael Jackson because she would have stole the live show with a performance like that.

He fancied her the week before and said it on the live show.

He is out to get her kicked off the show so his own acts can progress further, it's all a game and has little to do with talent as far as Cowell is concerned at the moment.

Purple rain was OUTSTANDING - I cannot believe it went to deadlock. I cannot believe that Simon did that. Girl band were rubbish again last night. I think although she is spanish - she speaks english fluently so its going to come naturally to her singing in english as well. Yes singing in spanish made her different but she cannot sing in spanish every week. It would be like Ray from XF3 singing swing every week. Yes he was good at it but it was boring after a while and it was predictable and didnt show what else he could do.

Ruth last night with purple rain - got herself back into the competition and she is amazing! I loved it. I have been watching it on youtube all morning.
