Default Simon on Alexandra\'s performance

I seem to recall that Leona did loads of Mariah Carey and Whitney songs during her time on X Factor.

So it seems its alright for Leona to do them but no one else

I don't like Alexandra, I just find her dull tbh =\

I'd like to see her boundries get pushed, like a rock week or something.

I agree
Alexandra is an amazing singer, it wouldnt matter if she did predictable songs, they're still songs
Plus the theme is MJ or The Jackson 5 songs, and she chose that, so he should have just been happy with it

His comments are pointed in such away to make sure he at least gets one of his singers into the final. In order to do that he has to rubbish all the girl singers who are better than the boys. It all part of a plan.

Cowell knows that the public listen to him and he can undermine the public confidence in any act he chooses to pick on. That is what he did last night with Alexandra he starting to take out of the competition. he is starting rubbish her in the public eye.

Cowell plays dirty every year. In a way he invalidates the whole contest by undermining the more talented singers just so that he can win. He completely destroyed Dionne Mitchells confidence when she was one of the better singers in series three.

Cowell dirty tactics are one of the reason why I keep going on and on about how the contest should be judged solely on talent and not commerciality. The high emphasis on commerciality leads to mediocre winners like Leon.

I don't think that commerciality element is really an issue with the judging. Cowell doesn't give two cents about the commerciality of the winner as long as he is the winning mentor.

He knows who ever wins will make him money from the show to cover the prize, be it in the fees paid by ITV for the show or the sales of the winners single and the first album even if it only does okay.

To me as long as the judges continue to mentor the performers the they can't give impartial advice and the whole judging process becomes corrupt and open to abuse.

Personally I think it is time for a format change. Yes still have mentors but have the separate from the judging panels. That way you still have the competition within the competition element of the show but without the ego's of the judges spoiling the show.

But Simon has been in the music industry long enough to know who has any kind of longevity. He keep saying to auditonees that he doesn't want to patronise them by saying they're better than they really are but surely by building up his own acts and destroying others - who are better - he's IS patronising them. Cowell will always make his money so I don’t understand why there is always such a commercial element to his decision making on the show. Talent should be the only thing that matters on the show.

I think you're right; we do need a format change. The constant petty arguing between Simon and Louis is undermining the show.

Simon is very manipulative - he doesn't want Alexandra to win. I think he wants Laura to win.

All Simon thinks about is who will earn him the most money. ŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁ ŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁ

Cowell has been in the industry so long that everybody believes what say's without question. Especially the press and most of the public. That is why he is so able to destroy the other acts and undermine public confidence in them. I would even go as far as he has the contacts to do the same things to the other judges. Look at the stories in the press having ago at Danni recently.

You're right Cowell is basically a looks like a patronising hypocrite on the x-factor because of his conflict in interests in the show. At the audition stage he wants the best acts on the show but when we get to the live stage of the show he wants his acts to win even if they are aren't the best in the show.

I think the x-factor started out as talent show, but over the years it has become just another game show. Maybe it is time for a name change to reflect the change in the show. How about "X-Factor - The Fight of the Mentors"

Personally I believe his ego is so big he is just out to win the show, he doesn't care about the money he has enough of that for several lifetimes.

Laura or diana he wants to win.................he sees them as different......after all he already has leona (love her), but he's basically saying to both ruth and alex.............be 'different' or you are gone. VOCALLY, I thought alex and ruth (purple rain especially), were the top 2 on the night.................but don't expect Cowell TO DO THEM ANY FAVOURS.

LOL

The fight between the judges is probably more interesting than the 'talent' contest. We can all predict that Ruth will be out soon even though she's one of the strongest singers. Thats just plain wrong.

Totally wrong Girth!! So let's try and get behind her, she's the underdog but wouldn't it be fab if Ruth shocked the 'experts' and stayed in ? Support Ruth!! Annoy Cowell!!

Unfortunately it has already been decided. I can't remember who said it but to be in the bottom two at this stage of the contest means she'll be out soon. Hopefully, she'll be in sing offs with the likes of Daniel and Scott so she should be around for a few weeks. But the writing's on the wall.
