Default Are You Worried About The Credit Crunch 2008/2009?

As Christmas is fast approaching, so is the severity of the Credit crunch.

Many people have been made/face being made redundant just before Christmas/just after.

Many also suspect that the problems will get worse in the first 3 months of 2009, when people have less money, the high bills from the winter/christmas season arrive and the sales in shops will not be a s popular due to less money, meaning in turn the reatil business makes less money, costing yet more jobs.

Is anybody else woried about the economic crisis heading our way?

I have to say I am really nervous. My wages have still not been raised this year as our union are fighting for a massive pay rise due to the credit crunch etc. I am still on the same wages I was last year and its cutting deep. Everything is going up... like EVERYTHING! PASTA!! Ahhh! I live on pasta cos its like so cheap and the price has went up by like 50%. I know you are like oh wow pasta! But it has and my wages are the same and then during the summer I aint really minded cos i didnt need to have my heating on all the time and it was light enough outside to keep my main lights off so my electricity and heating bills will go through the roof now its winter too.

I really just want my wage rise and I want all this to stop. I started panicking earlier thinking about Christmas and my family etc as I will not be able to do anything. 75% of my wages go on bills and then I am left with the rest for food and petrol etc. Nevermind gifts and special occassions and new outfits for christmas nights out etc.

Wow this post has just majorly depressed me.

Don't be depressed. This is where we need to save money, any that we can to ensure we survive. I'm worried, but also know that this country has got through it before, so will do it again. It'll be tough, but we're a strong nation.

I agree... I have moments where I feel like I am on a different planet than everyone else. The worst thing that has happened to me is that food has risen by like... 20p. Shopping for us is the same, I don't drive so petrol prices don't affect me. To be honest if it wasn't plastered all over the news I wouldn't even know there was a credit crunch!

Long story short, yes I am as I am growing up in a world with no money. And I feel sorry for anyone over the age of 16 struggling more than me!

Nope, haven't noticed a lot of difference at all, parents seem to be earning more than they did before the credit crunch.

Annie, if you get a pay rise, and everyone gets pay rises cut a long story short things will get worse. Thats why the government are urging for wages to stay the same. 6 months of slight hardship are better than years.
