Default I just got done watching BB1 for the first time....

and I didn't know the winner beforehand as I don't live in the UK.

I have only watched BB8 and 9, and I have to say that I was terribly bored watching most of BB1. That show definitely has improved over the years.

As far as winning BB1, I really wanted Anna to win. She had such a great personality. Don't really understand why voters picked Criag to win. But that is what I love about watching UK BB, I can never figure out what the UK public is thinking and every vote is a surprise to me (like how Rachel ended up winning BB9 ).

Now I have one question, was Gareth of The Office based off of Nasty Nick? Also, what has happened to the housemates over the years?

Rachel won BB9.

I've never watched BB1, I tried watching the first episode but it didn't show them entering the house and that's my favourite part, so I switched it off.

David, they got all the episodes on youtube, including the launch show where they enter the house. Search for stentionhaus user on youtube, he has most of BB on there, including all of season one.

The whole Territorial Army thing and how Nick thought he was an expert on everything. Ohh well, I thought I heard that one of the characters in The Office was based off of a real person from BB and thought it might have been Nasty Nick.

It was also interesting to see that Divina was exactly the same back then. She hasn't changed a bit, which is a good thing, because I love her!

Craig became popular because he was the main instigator in the 'nasty nick confrontation', that's what got him votes on the final night.

Also as far as I remember, they were not allowed to mention in the house what they would do with the money if they won... if they ever bought it up, Big Brother would call them to the diary room and tell them off

I don't think that's right. One of Nick's first manoeuvres was to declare he would give his winnings to charity. It was just one of a long string of lies he told, including things like how his girlfriend was killed in a car crash in Australia, and other bollox like that. He was never reprimanded by BB that I remember.

But it was good that he wasn't. One of the ways BB1 scored over all subsequent series was the entertainment value of watching Nick digging himself into a bigger and bigger hole. BB gave him no hint, no clue that his every move was being tracked. Without that restraint on the part of the planners, we would never have had that climactic confrontation around the kitchen table. They had much better judgement in those days.

I haven't seen it since then, but I think you can watch all the series on YouTube (if you have the stamina).
