Jade Goody has sparked anger among the gay community by saying that she will "look like a lesbian" if chemotherapy leaves her bald.

The former reality TV contestant, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August, claimed that people will think she is gay if they see her wearing "Timberland [boots], baggy jeans, and a big shirt with short hair or a bald head".

TV presenter and gay rights supporter Amy Lamé branded her comments "distasteful", telling The Mirror: "Does she really think that's what all lesbians look like? It's a completely old-fashioned, clichéd view. Does she really think she can get away with being homophobic like that?

"She's just managed to offend and insult not just lesbians but any woman with short hair including those who've lost their hair from disease, including cancer."

She added: "You'd think she'd have more important things to think about than making a reality TV show and worrying about her hair."

Amy Lamé should shut up, twisting Jade's comments. It was obvious she made them in jest. Her own mother is openly gay for god's sake. Would Amy open her fat mouth at somebody like Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Carr or Chris Moyles if they made "homophobic" comments.
