Default Britney Spears\' album sales decline rapidly

Britney Spears' new album 'Circus' has been knocked off the top of the US Billboard chart by Taylor Swift after only a week at the Number One spot.

The pop star's latest effort fell to the Number Two position and saw a 60 percent decline in sales Stateside, dropping from 505,000 to 200,000.

Meanwhile, Swift's 'Fearless' sold 249,000 copies in its fifth week on the charts, reclaiming the top position.

Beyonce took the Number Three spot with 'I Am…Sasha Fierce', selling 159,000 copies.

The three artists also hold the record for the biggest debuts by female artists this year.

Nickelback and the 'Twilight' soundtrack featuring various artists including Muse and Paramore rounded out the Top Five.

They aren't bad sales, not too far behind number 1

Its only natural. Britneys Album didnt sell so many copies in the 1st week, because its great. Its only the car crash TV factor. The fact that she was away for long time, and the renewed curiosity. People are bound to come back to earth. It will dramatically drop even further in the next few weeks!

Circus didn't sell much? It sold over 500,000 copies in its first week which is the second biggest debut by a female this year. And it had the biggest worldwide debut this year overall.

"declining rapidly" is harsh considering when an album sells that much in the US first week it'll always drop a so amount the next. 200,000 is good for second week. And it only dropped one place which proves that everyone who bought a CD last week was mostly buying Britney.

Thats still fantastic. Beyonce has been out for an extra 2 weeks than Britney's one and Beyonce's has sold about 200,000 more only. Circus is doing amazingly. Already in 2 weeks, she has sold 1.2m worldwide.

All albums decline in its 2nd week.

Not misleading at all. 505,000 down to 200,000 is a significant drop. A drop of over 60% to be exact.

LOL at some of these reactions.when you sell over 500k in the US in your first week a 60% drop is amazing considering most #1's fail to sell 150k.

Did you even read my post? There goes the knee jerk OTT reaction again, when you didnt even properly read my post. I said, it didt sell many copies BECAUSE IT WAS A GREAT ALBUM BUT ONLY BECAUSE OF CURIOSITY, AND THE FACT THAT BRITNEYS WAS GONE FOR A WHILE!

And like I said, its an average albums, it will be down in the dumps once the initial expected rush has worn off. And it is doing so quite rapidly!

The difference being Beyonce's album will have sustainability, and it will keep selling steadily for a while. Not likely for Britney. Pretty much, the people who have been waiting to buy the album, have almost all done so, and she has promoted it to death.

Sasha Fierce is doing pretty bad compared to Circus. Circus was number one on the Billboard 100, and still would be if it isn't for the Christmas period, therefore Christmas albums taking over.

Whats the point in answering my post, after telling me to hit the caps locks BITCH? Why do you even bother reading them? You cant talk properly to people, so I suggest you go learn how to do that, or just ignore me, because youve got some issues. GO sort them out.

Making the issue about previous posts so you don't have to talk about the success of Circus cause you got proven wrong? Nice work.
