This year just wasn't the Big Brother we know.

The format was designed by a schizophrenic German scientist who has lived in a bunker in Paraguay since 1944 and who thinks the war is still going on.

The tasks were designed from scribblings on the back of envelopes in the bin at the local nursery - drawn by hyperactive two year olds who have had too many additives in their orange juice.

The housemates were chosen by a focus group sticking pins in a map of the UK and going through the electoral rolls for each of the cities. It was the most scientific method they could come up with, after sitting in a darkened room for three months and being fed on rice cakes and lentils.

Deidre from Accounts had the final say based on her extensive knowledge of psychometric testing, computer dating and her uncanny ability to spot the latent homicidal tendencies in anyone.

The house was designed by a Swedish chef who entered a competition to design an oven and won first prize. The BB design just extended his original drawing by adding chairs.

Other than those minor quibles - I thought this year's was the best ever. AS IF!!!!!

Susieq I thought your post was excellent, it made me laugh so much.

Even though I have got more into it as the weeks went by, I have not really enjoyed this years BB, and as I have said several times before I think if I hadn't been helping to run this site I would probably have given up watching it after about the second week. Last years I loved and was addicted to from day one. This years has been very unpleasant. A horrid mix of people, a changed format that had no chance of working, lack of tasks and therefore anything interesting to do, so much bitching and arguments that I have often just turned it off - something I would never have dreamed of doing last year.

I will be watching next year, but similarly to Splodge I will be doing so hoping against hope that the producers will have realised that they made a horrendous mistake this year and actually give us somethig entertaining and worth watching again.

I, to hope they learn from thier mistakes , but sadly everytime any of the producers are interviewed on BBLB THEY SEEM TO SEE ALL THE CHANGES AS A BIG SUCSESS

Big Brother 2 was, for me, one of the best things I have seen on TV for ages so I wasn't expecting BB3 to be anywhere near as good. This series hasn’t even matched those expectations.

It's pretty bad to be honest.

They have given them too much alcohol resulting in unwatchable and cringe-worthy television like Jade's argument about a verruca. The producers swing from one extreme to another. One minute they are dividing the house and making half of them live off basic rations, the next they all get £400 shopping budgets.

The choice of contestants was wrong at the start: too young, immature and too laddish an atmosphere.

Lynne's eviction set the tone for eviction nights: the booing of the housemates when they leave the house has made the eviction nights very uncomfortable viewing.

Although I have enjoyed a few of the episodes recently, partly because the numbers are fewer now, it's also for the wrong reasons like the arguments. This year's Big Brother, in many ways, has demonstrated the worst side of human nature. Even the negative postings about housemates here must outweigh the positive ones by 10 to 1. Because of this I actually think the series may be getting worse.

The contestants I think, this year, have been so aware of the things they need to do, or not do, to make them popular or get them publicity and for this reason, unfortunately, I can't see Big Brother 4 being any better.

This year's Survivor, I think was better than BB3 has been. The group of characters was generally more likeable and a better representation of the British public.
