Tommy's wife warned him not to take part in this year's Celebrity Big Brother.

Gail Sheridan feared that BB producers may deliberately misrepresent him through clever editing and that his strong views may not earn the politician many fans.

"I told him I was totally against it and I didn't care how much he was getting paid for it, he shouldn't do it," she told The Daily Record. "We knew how he could be portrayed by the edits and people go stir crazy in there."

She added that she expects Tommy not to have much success when it comes to public voting. "He has already said he is anti-royalist, he's Scottish and socialist, so there is no way the English will vote for him."
