Big Brother contestant Anna Nolan has revealed her heartache for Jade Goody and said that the case of the terminally-ill star has encouraged her to get a cervical smear test.

Anna (39) met Jade on a number of occasions, as both have appeared in separate series of Big Brother.

"I think it's incredibly sad," said the Irish presenter, who first shot to fame as a reality star on the show.

She also spoke up for Jade (27) and her decision to remain in the media spotlight throughout her treatment for cervical cancer, insisting it is what the young mum of two wanted.

Anna said. "Everyone in the UK and Ireland is looking at her now until her dying day, but this is the way she wanted to live her life. No matter what the comments are, negative or positive, Jade is aware and this is what she wanted."

Anna said that Jade's case has highlighted the importance of young women getting a smear test.

"I saw a report that said that the number of cases of women getting tested for cervical cancer has increased by 50pc and it has absolutely encouraged me to get tested," she said. Meanwhile, a source close to the Justice Ministry in Britain revealed that Jack Tweed (21) may have his tag removed to be with Jade when she dies.

Jack must wear the tag to check that he abides by his curfew as part of his early release from an 18-month jail sentence for assault.

The couple married in a fairytale wedding last weekend.

Jade's spokeman said today: "She is still very weak and tired, a bit better today than yesterday -- although she is not in a good place."

I think it says a lot about Jade that out of the three BBUK series she appeared on, not one of her fellow housemates has publicly given her their support.

Now, perhaps unlike Jade they have some dignity to do such things in private (though of course, any message to Jade is intercepted by Max Clifford anyway), but I think the more likely thing is that over the last few years she's become too big for her own boots and to put it quite simply, none of them have any time for her.

It appears two have. Perhaps I really should read OK!

Apart from that though, I've only seen comment from Shilpa, who is far too nice to tell us what she really thinks of Jade, and Carole Malone (though all journalists are stuck up Jade's arse at the moment) comment on it. Oh, and Jack of course, but he's being paid.
