The dress Madonna wore in the video for that smash hit is up for auction – and expected to fetch an eye-popping £80,000.

The dazzling pink satin ball gown from the celebrated 1985 promotional film sparked the singer’s reputation as a global fashion icon.

It is being sold with a white faux-fur stole and a set of pink satin opera gloves.

And the ensemble wouldn’t be complete without some outrageous Madonna-style accessories: Included is a set of two rhinestone-studded cuffs and a bracelet.

Material Girl was the singer’s second hit from her album The Immaculate Collection. The dress will star in the Fame Bureau’s Rock ’n’ Roll Art And

Soul online auction on Tuesday.

Also up for auction is Ringo Starr’s bass drum skin painted with The Beatles’ name. It was given to a roadie but could now sell for up to £100,000.

Madonna in bad state, stops eating!

Madonna is so depressed after the rejection of her plea to adopt four-year-old Mercy James from Malawi that she has stopped eating and exercising.

According to reports, the singer’s friends are worried over her condition following the adoption-rejection by a Malawi court, reports The China Daily.

“She has abandoned her strict macrobiotic diet and is virtually eating nothing. She has even stopped training since she returned from Malawi and seems to be in a trance a lot of the time,” a source told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper.

Madonna, who is a follower of Kabbalah, has allegedly lost 5 lbs after the court ruling, and has struggled to keep her emotions in check while in public.

The source added: “Madonna attended a Passover dinner in London held by members of her Kabbalah faith and broke down in tears about Mercy. She looked wiped out, telling guests she felt weak from lack of sleep and exercise. She said she felt too low to train which, for her, is unheard of.”

The Material Girl, who recently got divorced from film director Guy Ritchie, travelled to the African country in the hope of giving a home to Mercy at the end of March.

However, her application was rejected because she had not lived in Malawi for 18 months, which is a pre-requisite by law.

Now, the 50-year-old pop star is filing an appeal against the court’s decision, so that Mercy could join her other children - Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David Banda, three - who she also adopted from Malawi. (ANI)

Madonna has topped a list of Hollywood's most hardworking mothers after reportedly earning $110 million (£74.8 million pounds) in 2008.

Actresses Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow came second and third respectively on the Forbes list, which was released on Friday.

Lauren Streib, who helped compile the data, told Reuters that the 50-year-old singer "had an incredible year".

"She had the top tour of any musician...The tour sold out around the world. So it wasn't surprising as much as it is a commentary on how successful her year was," she said.

Witherspoon earned an estimated $24 million (£16.3 million), while Paltrow had earnings of around $20 million (£13.6 million). The list is based on estimated earnings of Hollywood mothers with at least one child.

Madonna praises Oakenfold collaboration

Madonna is reportedly delighted with the material that she and DJ Paul Oakenfold have produced.

The 50-year-old singer returned to the studio this week after sustaining minor injuries in a horse riding accident last week in The Hamptons, New York.

Manager Guy Oseary confirmed that Oakenfold was among producers that the star would be working with for her greatest hits collection.

According to WENN, Madonna wrote on Oseary's Twitter page: "Paul Oakenfold is running around the studio naked...because I won't put the air on...it's hot in here...but the music is hotter – M."

Data collected during 2008 named Madonna as Hollywood's most hardworking mother after she earned an estimated $110 million (£74.8 million) last year.

Ritchie 'buys house near Madonna'



Guy Ritchie has reportedly purchased a four-storey house in London that is 200 yards from his ex-wife Madonna's mansion.

The RocknRolla director bought the home to be near his sons when the singer brings them to Britain, The Sun reports.

A friend said: "Madonna and Guy are getting on better than they have in years."

They added that Ritchie had been "a rock" in his support for his former partner after her failed bid to adopt a second child from Malawi.

'Madonna in Swine Flu' hoax

An email which claims Madonna has caught the killer swine flu is a hoax sent by spammers to spread a computer virus, it has been revealed.

The spam message is headlined 'Madonna caught swine flu', while another targets Mexican actress Salma Hayek, saying she has the bug.

When the emails are opened, the computer virus is activated to cause damage to PCs.

According to anti-virus software company McAfee, inboxes around the world have been flooded with the mail and has warned against opening the emails.

A spokesperson from McAfee said: "We see attackers all the time trying to trick us into infecting ourselves through the use of current affairs and popular topics…and here's a big celebrity who people want to follow the gossip from."

Nude Madonna pics go on show


Pictures of a nude Madonna taken as an unknown 20-year-old have gone on display.

The snaps were taken in 1979 by photographer Martin Schreiber before she maDe her name as a singer.

He described the struggling, fledgling star as having "a fantastic body. Perfect."

Madonna, who was doing some part-time modelling to pay her way through dance school, was paid $30 for the shoot.

Schreiber added: "She was pliant but I would say very quiet, maybe shy I'm not sure.

"I use the word taciturn, kind of moody, I felt. Not really into it but she was doing it. She was making a living doing it."

Schreiber claims the pair became lovers after Madonna, with little money and few friends, moved into his flat for two weeks.

The photographs of the young Madonna are part of the Brighton Festival Fringe and are on sale for £3,400.

Madonna denies Guy custody claims

Madonna has denied a tabloid report which says her kids are going to stay with ex husband Guy Ritchie this summer while she's on tour.

OK! reports that the star used her business partner Guy Oseary's Twitter account to slam the story that she and Guy have reached a deal where he has custody of their children, David, four and Rocco, eight, for three months while she's off on her extended European concert tour.

"@perez hilton what is this rubbish about me dumping my children off for the summer while I'm on tour? They go where I go. -M" Madonna wrote, in response to Hollywood gossip blogger Perez Hilton, who posted the story on his website.

The Material Girl isn’t giving up her role as the face of Louis Vuitton yet.

Following the success of her spring/summer ads for the luxury goods giant, Madonna will continue on as the face of the luxury house’s Autumn/Winter 2009 collection.

Madonna and Marc Jacobs will collaborate for the second time with famed photographer Steven Meisel to shoot the new ad images in New York City.

The first images of the campaign are slated to appear in August issues of fashion magazines. We can’t wait to see what Madonna and Marc have in store for us this time around.

Madonna 'house-hunting in Hamptons'

Madonna is hunting for a house in the Hamptons, reports say.

The singer recently signed a contract for a townhouse in the area and stayed at the posh Wolffer Estate Vineyards in Sagaponack, according to the New York Post.

However, the popstar was not interested in purchasing the 12,000 square foot Tuscan-style villa, preferring to utilise its winery to board her horses.

Madonna reportedly presented the estate with a ten-page list of demands, including a provision that "no-one could be in the riding ring at the same time as her", a source told the publication.

"It was laughable," the source said. "They turned her down flat."

She then boarded her horses at photographer Steven Klein’s residence, where paparazzi snapped her when she fell off a mare three weeks ago.

Undeterred, she has apparently been on the lookout for homes in the East as well as in the Westchester Bedford area.

Madonna’s representative Liz Rosenberg denied the existence of the list of demands and would not give specifics on where the star was living.

"I get calls all the time about different places saying she's looking to buy there in ten different states," Rosenberg said.

Ritchie 'annoyed over Madonna jibe'



Madonna's recent internet outburst has angered her ex-husband Guy Ritchie, according to a report.

The Queen of Pop yesterday hit back at claims that she was planning to leave sons Rocco, eight, and David, three, with Ritchie when she reprises her 'Sticky & Sweet' tour in July.

Writing on Twitter, she asked: "What is this rubbish about me dumping my children off for the summer while I'm on tour? They go where I go."

However, it is believed that Madonna's rebuttal has only served to create further tension with her former partner.

A source close to Ritchie told The Mirror: "He adores spending time with the boys, so if Madonna did want him to look after the children he'd have done it without a second thought."

The insider added: "Guy has been trying to show his support to Madonna, especially over her recent adoption upset in Malawi.

"But it sounds like she's having a dig at him in her internet rant, referring to dumping them on him. They share their time with their children - it isn't a case of them being dumped on anyone."

Madonna and Ritchie were granted a "quickie" divorce in November. They had announced their separation a month earlier.

Day one is set to feature an exclusive with the Malawian man claiming to be the biological father of the four-year-old girl Madonna hopes to adopt. James Kambewa claims, "I want to take care of her and I'm capable to take care of my baby... Mercy. She is Malawian -- so [I] need her to grow as a Malawian, as well with our culture." Kambewa has never met Mercy (whose mother reportedly died just after child birth).

A Malawian judge rejected the pop star's initial request to adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James, citing the country's residency requirement for would-be parents. Madonna's appeal is scheduled to be heard Monday.

Madonna adopted son David Banda from Malawi in 2006.

Madonna Loves Lady GaGa

Lady GaGa has another superstar fan — Madonna.

The reigning queen of pop and her daughter, Lourdes, saw the Poker Face singer’s gig at N.Y.C.’s Terminal 5 on Saturday night.

“Madonna loved Gaga’s show,” a source told the New York Daily News. “Especially when Gaga played Future Love on the piano. Lourdes was singing along to every word.”

The source adds that Madonna and Lourdes left halfway through the show, “probably because Gaga went on late, around 1 a.m., and Madge is a good mom!”

GaGa, real name Stefani Germanotta, has previously compared herself to the Material Girl, saying, “We’re both Italian-American women, we both started out in the New York underground scene — and we both became famous when we dyed our hair blonde.

Madonna begins her Malawi adoption appeal today

Lawyers for pop star Madonna have returned to a Malawian court to appeal against a ruling denying her request to adopt a child.
Last month, the court ruled that the singer could not adopt three-year-old Chifundo 'Mercy' James as she did not have permanent residence in Malawi.
Madonna was not at the closed-door hearing and a ruling may not be announced for several days.
The singer has already adopted a boy, David, from the southern African state.
Mercy lives in the same orphanage from which Madonna adopted David in 2006 and has been living there since her 18-year-old mother died shortly after giving birth.
Madonna's Malawian lawyer Alan Chinula said he was 'hopeful' the appeal would succeed, and argued the lower court had relied on outdated law to block the girl's adoption.
Meanwhile, a dispute has erupted over a man claiming to be the little girl's father.
James Kambewa, a 24-year-old security guard, told US TV he opposed the star's appeal and had sought help from the Malawi Law Society to stop the adoption.
Although Mr Kambewa acknowledged he had never met the child, he said he now wanted to claim custody.
However Mercy's uncle, Peter Baneti - who is representing the family in the adoption case - said that the family did not know Mr Kambewa.
Mr Baneti said he had agreed to the adoption on behalf of the family, and that Mr Kambewa was 'just an opportunist'.
