Apparently, acording to wikipedia, the BBAU house is open to the public after the series has ended. Is this true?

Yes it is. Every year, the house is available to the public but they can't go everywhere they want to. They follow a way.

In fact, if you pay a certain fee, you can hire the Big Brother house for parties and stuff. I live about 15 mins from where the BB house is and I know a few people that have been to parties there.
