Im looking at the tv guide and there is nothing that rivals big brother on any major channel. Channel4 have been very clever.
BBC1 - Calendar Girls: 10 years on ![]() BBC2 - A World of pain: Meera Syal on self-harm ![]() ITV1 - Taggart ![]() Channel 4 - Big Brother Launch Show ![]() Five - The Mentalist Sky1 - Bones BBC3 - How to rob a bank ![]() I honestly think Big Brother may get the highest launch figures in the last few years, as nothing rivals the launch. This might also pull in new viewers

Dont under-estimate Taggart. I believe that gets good viewing figures.

Alot of Irish viewers might be lost. IAC USA starts on Thursday. I still havent made up which one to watch. I can record C4 because its on Sky, but I pick up RTE on a normal arial (cant record it) so I might just watch IAC and catch up on BB.

There was no competition last year but this year its much better because BBC1 have a worse show at 9pm than last year and Taggart has decreased rapidly and is struggling to get 3.5million viewers. Also nothing that aims at the target audience of BB apart from Katie and Peter but as shown last year people will miss that to watch the launch.
Big Brother will win the slot and I can't see any other channel getting over 3 maybe 4 million at 9pm |

Past overnight launch ratings since they did them live:
BB3 - 5.8m BB4 - 6.9m, 5.2 million (two launch shows that year) BB5 - 6.7m BB6 - 5.9m BB7 - 6.9m BB8 - 6.2m BB9 - 5.4m I think now BGT is over they'll start to up the advertising which is something they have increasingly done this year BB7 and 9 were on Thursday and had no competition BB8 was up against The Soap Awards and The Apprentice (when it was a much smaller show) The rest launched on a Friday and had a unique campaign behind them |

People will be stuck up and watch another channel, Big Brother is below them.. But plenty will watch ITV no matter what is on.
