Default Old Member Threads and New Member Threads

Has anyone noticed that there are some types of threads?
Like usually, if a new member starts a thread, generally the rest of the posters of that thread are new members also, and vice versa. It's weird, isn't it? It's probably down to new members sticking to one another because they have something in common, but I just thought it was funny when I noticed it.

I know what you mean. And often, the new member's threads are on topics which have been discussed many times, so other members won't want to discuss it again.

It's the other way around. Older members tend to only reply to threads of members they know or are used to seeing around rather than a stranger, which is fair enough. It's natural, but it would be nice if some of them would be slightly more welcoming to the newbies.

And I've noticed a lot of the younger members who have been around longer have formed little groups and try to undermine and intimidate anybody who isn't part of their cliqué.

you just used text speak.

I think it;s cos most older members dont bother with both BB and new member threads where are newbies reply to any thread.

It depends on the member I think. If its someone like bigbruva10izdabest34 then it gets new annoying members but if its a fairly respectable new member who is articulate etc then it'll get quite a lot of older members too

And yeah I've noticed too, I don't often reply to newbie threads cos they're BB related.

I must say for some one who hasn't been here very long you've cottoned on very quickly. Usually it takes members months before they realise how definitive the cliques are.

oh& I agree Billy, it just looks messy to me. =P

I think that more established members tend to post in Non BB related sections aswell as the BB section. Where as newer members tend to stick more to the BB sections. There are exceptions of course.

I'm more likely to remember a member with an avatar and a signature, Enid being a good example of a new member with both.

I think it's because (as mean as it sounds) newbies post small things about BB, or an opinion, and unless it's really good, only other newbies post because they actually care :3

and newbies feel they can't post in threads posted by older members xD

I argee with most things posted. How older members tend to post more in non BB sections than BB while the newbies are mainly here for BB.

Like I'm not posting in any BB section since I'm not watching it but it doesn't purposely mean I'm not posting in new members threads.

Hmm, "definitive" isn't quite the word I'd use to describe it. It's a bit like school kids (cliqué) bullying the new kid (newbie) and the outcasts. Very childish.

I had already been targeted on the first day I joined here. Not that it bothers me, because it clearly means I am a threat.

1. I don't understand any of that.
2. I'm not complaining, simply observing.
