Default Arctic Monkeys

I dont normally like the bands that NME hype up, but I have to say they may be right here.

I love the single. They are releasing Scummy(When the sun goes down) next.

After hearing Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts, I have to say this boy is a lyrical genius.

'Engaged but no intention of a wedding, he stole my bird and he's gonna kick my head in'

I think they are the new Stone Roses, but on a much bigger scale.

They certainly have the potential to be as good, if not better, then Stone Roses and any band out there at the moment.

There songs are different and very catchy. Is there album out in the shops?

I have the downloaded album but if i like the album i buy it.

If not, whens there release date?

Normally they release there album shortly after the first/ second single, which has been released.

Oh well, downloadable version it is!

They're sounding promising at the moment, but not that promising.

I was comparing the impact that they have had on the industry, and how avid their fanbase is already. We truly are seeing something special here. I've never know a band rise so quickly

Its amazing how lyrically aware they are for 19/20 year olds.

Have you heard anything other than 'I Bet......'? If not get some tracks from http://www.savefile.com/projects.php?pid=970279 .

They have a brilliant set-list, enough already for 2 or 3 quaulity albums. Songs such as Riot Van, Scummy, Space Invaders, From the Ritz to the Rubble, Fake Tales of San Francisco, Mardy Bum and Dancing Shoes will become classics once the album is released.

The Stone Roses comparisons are used a lot but I think in getting to number 1, they've outdone The Stone Roses already and I'm predicting the first Arctic Monkeys album will make most debut albums look shoddy.

So much more than "the next big thing"

We must also thank them for giving us the best chat up line ever in "I bet that you look good on the dancefloor"

I'd sooner they didn't make such a dramatic impact, to be honest. The number one single is indeed quite an achievement, but it doesn't require particularly large sales to do that these days. Stellar success almost never pays dividends, and the truly great bands ply their trade for a while longer, giving them an opportunity to bed-in and become accustomed to the trappings. Three or more essential albums is a far more mouth-watering prospect than a one-off classic prior to falling into the depths of obscurity. There's a plethora of excellent new bands around at the moment, which is great to see and has me rubbing my hands with glee at the prospect of r & b pap getting dropped from the radio station A lists. But I want it to stay that way for as long as possible. A sense of C86 inspired hopefulness is healthy - Brit Pop mark II most certainly is not.

I quite enjoyed Britpop, even if some of it was pap.
