Doctor Ew is a Creative Writing project structured around the following premise:
- TiBB members will be written in as characters, perhaps reflective of what I consider to be their personalities or perhaps not. - In a genre similar to Doctor Who, the 'timelord' and his assistants will travel the TiBB Universe and defeat evil aliens and save noble and brave planets. - I've already decided upon the identities of a number of good and bad characters, but other, smaller (perhaps cameo) roles have yet to be written in. The series will last for 13 episodes, and I can reveal the first episode to be called: The Abduction Coming soon. ![]() |

Episode One - The Abduction
Jen flicked through the pages of Cosmopolitan, mixing and matching outfits in her head and wishing her overdraft would account for even 10% of what she wanted. With a sigh, she tossed the magazine aside. As she stepped into the kitchen to make herself a drink, the familiar sound of her mother berating Rory struck her ears. "I'm not having a go at you, I just wish you'd stop barricading yourself in your room all day and watching movies, but concentrate on your school work!" moaned Princess. "I don't stay in my room all day!" retaliated Rory, but he was cut short. "Oh, well I suppose my £50 a month Sky Movies bill just appeared out of thin air then, did it?" "Jen rents movies too!" he cried, exasperated. With a knowing nod, Jen pulled a glass down from the cupboard and poured herself a glass of orange juice. She tried in vain to change the topic of conversation. "Roger's playing today!" she smiled, with boundless enthusiasm. Her appreciation for Roger Federer, the international tennis champion was endless, but an interest not shared by her family. She went ignored. "Not nearly as many as you do! Now I want to see an improvement in your maths and geography grades this term, or the whole thing is getting cut-" She didn't have time to utter the word 'off'. Without time for reaction, the room violently shook, and Jen's glass smashed on the floor. Acting in surprise and fear, the family hugged each other, fearing the worst, but before they could even finish a prayer for help all was back to normal. Car alarms from the street outside rang unnervingly, as the residents slowly emerged from the safety of their homes to trade theories on what had just happened on Wellington Avenue. Whispers of 'earthquake' and 'terrorists' flew around and Jen remembered why exactly she hated life in this city. It wasn't her family she hated; far from it. But her neighbours and the lack of nearby future prospects made her despair. Absolutely everything managed to somehow filter through the gossipy, bitchy mouths of Mrs. Tanner and her obese friends - there wasn't a day she walked to school without one of them commenting on her family's arguments. "Here, your Rory was ever so loud with those sci-fi films last night!" for example. The gossip wasn't the worst of it, it was the bickering and silly little rivalries that she detested. The boys trying to show off their latest toys, the dads and their gadgets, the wives and their gardening - the number of times she's witnessed good friends become enemies overnight was discouraging. She suddenly remembered where she was and looked to the sky. She didn't know if she saw it before or after the screams from her neighbours, but she definitely saw it. A large, grey spaceship hovered over the city with an ominous heaviness. Jen was speechless, she could only look around at Rory and her mother for confirmation that this wasn't just a dream. The looks on their faces more than verified that. With a single thought she ran back inside and turned on the news channels, hoping for some explanation. Rory followed her back inside whilst Princess turned to a neighbour. "Aliens?" she mumbled. "Yeah..." replied a distracted onlooker. Back in the house, the anchorman had a stern look on his face and was offering little information that Jen did not already know. Before she had time to express her confusion to her brother, another unsettling noise threw her off course and with a scream she jumped to the floor. A flash outside lit up the windows. "Oh my G-" Rory said, aghast. She slowly got to her feet and joined him in his shock. A single blue beam from the spaceship to the Earth's surface was now present, and material - cars, debris, she even thought she saw some people - were being sucked up to the craft. Another beam fired down from another part of the ship, this one closer to home. Realising she was now in danger, Jen ushered her brother and mum into movement, grabbing a few important items. "We need to get out of here!" she cried. "But to where!? What's going on?" Princess exclaimed. She fumbled for the car keys in a kitchen draw as Rory ran upstairs. "Where are you off to?!" "Laptop!" cried Rory, as Jen rolled her eyes. She ran for the door before some more earth-shattering noises stunned her. Army forces from the nearby camps had arrived on the scene and were firing artillery at the ship, though whether or not it was having any effect remained to be seen. There was certainly no external damage, Jen thought. She ran to her mum's car, where Princess and Rory were already fumbling for seatbelts. She jumped in the passenger side and shouted "drive!" Part Two Coming Up. |

Part Two
A small alarm bell rang from the opposite side of the UTIS, and Mark jumped to action. He'd encountered a lot of trouble recently, much more than the usual for this time of year. He opened a screen and saw something that disturbed him greatly. Without hesitation he pushed a lever and the UTIS lurched sideways, travelling time and space at frightening speed. With a small bump he landed in the middle of a street on planet Earth, and stepped outside to assess the situation. The likelihood of this species being a threat to the humans was great - but that was nothing new, he thought. To onlookers, Mark Waldorf would have looked like your average human being. He walked and interacted with an unswayed confidence, and seemed world-wise to say the least. Dressed in a pale blue blazer and suiting trousers, he realised he'd landed in the middle of a busy road. "What the Hell is there a phonebox here for?" cried Princess, as she got out of the car to examine it. Jen looked on from behind the window, remarking on a rather good-looking stranger stood nearby. She witnessed in anguish as her mother then proceeded to embarrass the family name by marching up to this man and shouting in his face. With a groan, she jumped out of the car to defend him. Mark was used to bewildered and angry humans by now - he'd watched the Britney Spears performance at the VMAs in 2007 from afar. He replied calmly and showed her a couture badge, designed with technology to look official - convincingly too, as the woman stepped back and nodded solemnly. A prettier, younger woman ran between the two of them and began apologising. "It's just my mum, she's confused and angry, I'm sorry!" she began, but he held up a hand to her face. "No time for apologies, are you familiar with wireless technology?" he commanded. "Uh, yes! My brother is too! Rory!" she called, as her brother stepped out to help. "Right, follow me!" The 3 family members dashed off down towards the town centre, seemingly at the core of the spaceship's activity. There were now 4 beams absorbing debris from the planet, and none of the human attacks had taken any effect. They ran past panicked and frightened neighbours that they normally walked past every day, often with a nod and a smile. All such politeness was now out the window. "This way!" Mark called, gesturing them into a small newsagent on the main commercial street of the town. The store was open yet abandoned, but Mark ran up to the building's roof. There, he took Rory's laptop and took out a peculiar tool and tinkered with it. "What is that? Who are you?" Jen quizzed. "Me? I'm...call me the Doctor. And this is going to help us take down that spaceship." he said matter-of-factly. "The doctor? You're a doctor? What does that have to do with aliens?" began Princess. "But if you take it down it'll crash into Earth!" cried Rory. "Not quite, hopefully they'll take the hint and clear off." responded Mark. "But what are they? What is it here for?" began Jen, but before the Doctor could give her his diagnosis, the laptop screen burst to life and answered for him. A single, ugly face was now on screen, speaking directly to them. "You." muttered Mark. "Yes, me." The scales on this alien's face and the gills on his neck were the only really distinguishable features, otherwise Jen might have thought this was just a human. "How does he know English?" Rory asked. "He doesn't, this laptop's translating him." the Doctor coolly responded. "What are you doing here, Marako? You were forbidden from inter-galactic travel by the Universal Council after your attacks on the Glex." he demanded, a hint of authority and disgust creeping into his voice. Jen stared in blind confusion at Marako's face, wondering what the response would be. She knew nothing of a Universal Council or a Glex, or whatever. "Our species is seeking to stretch our legs, Doctor. You cannot contain the Mods on such a small playing field. Perhaps you haven't heard of our latest plans?" Marako sneered. Mark turned back to Jen, Princess and Rory. "This'll all sound incredibly confusing to you, but this is a Mod. They're another species from a faraway planet that have been known to attack other planets in search of power and control." he informed. They looked back with fear and intrigue. "Indeed we are, Doctor, thank you for the introduction. Now, our demands. We are establishing a New Universal Order, where humans and other such lowly species serve as mere slaves to us under a new scheme called TiBB," "TiBB stands for This is Big Brother. Perhaps you are familiar with the work, it is human after all - but it serves as a fitting, yet ironic name for the regime we're imposing upon you," "Doctor, I'm afraid you'll have to step aside. We'll move on once we've ciphoned 1 million slaves. Of course we can't carry this many in one trip, so we'll be back soon. Tata now." The laptop suddenly went blank and before they could discuss their plan of action, the room flashed blue. A shattering crash filled the room and cries from outside were heard - a fifth beam was now in the middle of the store, sucking up produce. Jen instinctively grabbed for the Doctor's arm, as he escorted her out of the building, screaming. Princess ran up to her and tightly embraced her daughter, relieved to see her safe, but immediately began searching for Rory. Before they had a real chance to search, however, a cry from above confirmed their worst fears - Jen looked up and saw her brother, upside-down, slowly ascending to the spaceship against his will. His cries for help went unheard in amongst all the carnage and screams from passers-by. "My baby! NO!" screamed Princess, before she ran straight into the beam blindly. "Mum! What the Hell are you doing?" yelled Jen. "Saving him!" was all Princess could reply before she and her son entered the alien craft. Turning to the Doctor, Jen looked fearful and lost. "Come with me. Hurry!" he shouted, and off they ran - to where? She didn't know. |
