Default I Can Hardly Contain My Indifference

Where are all the good housemates? I don't think I've ever watched such a dull BB, although granted I haven't watched every series. It's just so dull - there are no characters left in the house, at all. Sure, you can still pick a favourite, but it's like asking someone what their prefered shade of beige is....
I've heard a lot of 'Get him/her out, s/he's horrible!!!11'... But why? Let's just keep the nice folks in, the safe, normal folks, the dullards, spastics, the boring as **** moaning fungi. I still turn it on, out of habit and out of a hope that something - anything - will happen. I might just give up, though. It's getting old. If reality was this boring, suicides would shoot through the roof, DVD sales would skyrocket, and more pregnancies would be recorded. Ok, I'm not completely going to badmouth the show, they do have their moments in there... but they are getting less and less, in frequency and in potency.

They've already added extra housemates to a second-rate line-up of misfits, with most going before their bags were unpacked. So, do you think BB needs to shake things up for the final two weeks, or do you think they'll be content to go out with a whimper instead of a roar? Is it just this time due to the line-up, or is BB as a concept ready to be laid to rest?

I know a lot won't share my sentiments here, but I'm being genuine and not trying to stir up trouble, honest... I'm just really bored of it when, in hindsight, things should be heating up to the climax.

Thoughts?

You're absolutely right.

It's sad that I only tune it to see one housemate, rather than wanting to watch the entire show itself.

The twists aren't as exciting as they used to be, the eviction process is almost predictable, and you know something's wrong with a show when its contestants stop giving a crap.

BB4 was more boring. It is always the same in every series though because the interesting/loud/irritating characters get nominated and voted out and that leaves mostly the ones who have never been nominated (or had few nominations) because they don't annoy any of the other housemates, and by definition that tends to mean they are boring.

Well, sadly we can't all have a life as exciting as yours; so exciting that you can't find anything more interesting to do than watch BB! Methinks thou dost protest too much!

maybe next year it should be vote to save nominations and the public also vote to save every week, and then the dull characters will go first!!do you think this would work better?could be worth trying.

I wish they would try it.......However it would only work if the rules were changed for a minimum of three to be up each week......With only two up it would be no different from a vote to evict......

The irony being that the last thing I suggeted you were was an action man. I mean, you sit and watch the dullest programme on TV apparently. And peope say Bea was a moaner! Clearly from your bitter response my shot was well aimed.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the show. Try to view it on a deeper level.

You have a right to your opinion about what constitutes interesting or otherwise housemates........However with such negative feelings towards this years BB why are you watching it!!!!!!! Let alone bothering to chat about it.......By definition you must be being entertained by it.......

I don't watch stuff that does not entertain me.....So I would Ithink most people react by switching off and finding some other means of passing the time.....

A little more control over nomination antics would help, but a better set of hms would help. These ones show a high degree of thickness.

BB has been going downhill for years. The more freaks and glamour models they put in the worse it becomes. Needs to get back to what it was when the show began by putting 'normal' people in not media *****s who just want a magazine deal.

every year with each BB, there's always someone somewhere who makes this statement.

for crying out loud its been running for ten years now, what do you really expect?

The format is obvoiusly strained and some series will obviously not stand out as much as others, but at the end of the day.... your still watching!

I didn't see the series from the start but what has been interesting for me:

Bea vs Kenneth, Tom and Freddie
Marcus vs Bea
Bea's realisation that not everyone saw her as she did when they all couldn't stop laughing.

For me I think the problem is that one sole housemate isnt all that interesting but rather how housemates interact with one another. Therefor it is bound to become a lot less interesting at this point for me.

If they have more controversial housemates in I think folk will find it even harder to relate to them (which for some seems important). If they don't it may be seen as too boring. Because of this I think Big Brother has intrinsically a limited lifespan.

Ofcourse that could all be rubbish and it will just continue along with a die hard fan base. It still does seem to be able to get quite a lot of people emotionally involved though perhaps more negatively now then before?
